From fighting with a ewe-necked giraffe, I am slowly getting better and better responses to the extent that I've actually had a complete circuit without Remy snapping her head up! [image]

. She's becoming much more responsive to my requests and although it's still intermittent it's improving each time I school her

.

This is what I've been up against

and when she's like that she throws me right out of the saddle and I have to struggle to get my balance (hence why my position is cr*p!). She has a tendency to power off in her huge paces and it's ever so hard to move with her sometimes ::)

. So I've been trying to concentrate on my balance and keeping her balanced as well and I think we are going in the right direction (even if it all falls apart now and again

). I also have to get used to the massive difference in paces between her and what I'm used to riding!!

aww Gill she looks fab when she settles and you can tell she's really listening

Would not like to be in the saddle when that huge head looms......

Could the head throwing just be a balance issue? Elle does a lot of balancing with her head, i think it could stem from her driven days.
I tried to keep my hands soft and light but still and gradually over the 6 weeks or so that she was ridden she began to sort it out.

I've turned her away now but have been doing some pole work with her on the ground and she drops her head nicely for that.

Remy looks lovely when she does sort her head out!

Yes I'm sure it's a balancing issue Jane, it's early days and she's still trying to sort out her legs/balance and carry me into the bargain! Dunno what's happened to one pic which seems to have disappeared for some reason

She really is lovely but would not fancy riding her in first pictures, ears up noses is a little worrying lol....
She looks absolutely smashing when she gets her head down and on the bit though..

LOL. Sooner you than me in the early pics, Gill. She looks smashing when her head comes down. You must be very pleased with that progress.

You are doing really well with her Gill. I remember when Dancer went round with his head up and it looks like you are succeeding to get Remy's head down more consistently than the early days with Dancer. She looks absolutely lovely!
