I know we need it, but ...!! The summer paddock is becoming waterlogged and trashed. I can't move them into the other side at the moment as the sheep and lambs are on it. We are in the process of dividing up the two fields with stock fencing and a dead space between them, to make it easier to get the tractor up and down and also to herd the sheep up from one field to another. I opened up this stretch of lush grass to the horses so they could eat it down - well all they did for ten minutes was to charge up and down up and down till there was hardly any eatable grass left, idiots! Today is non-stop rain! It's always one extreme or the other isn't it

Constant rain here too. We have a huge lake in Dolly and Frankie's field, bigger than it's ever been in the last 20 years and they say we have a drought here and have a hosepipe ban!!! The water is so deep that the only safe way of getting into the field is by quadbike and even then the water laps over the footwells. I was going to take a pic today but forgot my camera.

Here in Holland we've got a lot of rain too. The mornings are usually good and sunny, and then rain rain rain. The horses are still in the sand paddock where they stay year round. They'll go on the grass March 1st.

How long does it have to rain before we are no longer in a drought?

I can't even go out now without being spotted and them assuming I am about to give them more grass. I need to check on the sheep and lambs but as soon as they see me they all make a beeline for me then start galloping all over the place, they are fast trashing what's left of their field! And it's still raining ....

It's been raining here for weeks & I've hardly managed to ride in the last month. I'm taking Pip to a weekend clinic on 11th May and at this rate neither of us will be fit enough to do much

I'm supposed to be doinmg a 22k ride with Lady this weekend - it's high up so might not be waterlogged but I think it'll be pretty cold!
Now the weather-related sheep problems are starting - today I had to bring a set of twins back in, big strong lambs, 5 days old, just cold and soaked to the skin. And another ewe has developed mastitis.
I'm watching the lambs for signs of joinmt ill as well - erven with treated navels, when it's so muddy and they are lying on wet ground they can pick up infection really easily.
PLEASE PLEASE can we have some sunshine?? We've only had 1 dry day since the beginning of April!
