That is sad. Your friend must be really upset. Hope she gets some quality time with the old lad now....

These youngsters... you try to bubblewrap them, but they can injure themselves so easily whilst playing in the fields. One up and over, and its all over. I so feel for your friend She's right, though, at least donating his body can make a differnce to those who are still learning. And it can make such a huge difference to others in the future. As for the old boy, there may be something in the environment just now that's causing his COPD to be very, very bad. I don't know about your farmers, but ours are full out just now, trying to bring in their harvests. The dirt and mold, and just stuff kicked up from the old crops hang heavy in the air. Some days its much harder to breathe than others, especially as a lot of people are setting fire to their dead leaves as well. I know at least two dogs that are suffering serious allergies right now, and can only breathe thanks to some Benedryl. Here's hoping the meds the vet prescribes for the old cob kicks in and your friend can have some serious cuddling/healing time with her old friend.

Oh good God, the poor horse and what a shock for the owner. Dreadful.
Fingers crossed the old one improves on the meds.

oh god the poor thing thats awful about the 2 year old. I lost a three year old a lot of years ago and it broke my heart. The only joint supplement that my friend found worked on her veteran mare was something called newmarket joint supplement which was i think was nearly pure glucosamine, i might have got the name wrong but if she googled it it would come up, very pricy but worked, they use it on the tb stud too. hope things go ok for her with the older one.
