PLEASE DON’T READ ON IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH!! GELDING PICS!!!! THIS IS INTENDED TO BE INFORMATIVE BUT IS A BIT GORY!!
We had a good night! Uncle Isaac said I was probably going to meet a pretty young lady! Wow! Uncle Pants laughed. That’s not nice!
I did floss my teeth this morning and de-fluff my bits and do my parting in a rake-ish style so I was ultra handsome!
I did get shut in a stable with no breakfast this morning (Friday), how mean is that! Then Wendy came to see me and gave me a happy jab, I was humming Uncle Pants “Stairway to Heaven”, it was cool! I did go all wobbly. Wendy sewed a canular into my neck and then we had to go into the field where Marie was waiting with tons of things. It was very windy and things did go blowing all over the field which made me giggle. Lucy and Sue did look very serious and I couldn’t see any pretty young fillies anywhere! Anyway, I had another jab thing and did fall asleep.
Sue got the head end and was watching for twitchy muzzles and I was left holding up a leg. It was quiet fascinating. I couldn’t believe how big his berlocks where!! They crunched and cut the blood supply to each one and then did the same to each output tube. It was a bit gory! I didn’t get any procedure pics as I was doing a job (ie. stopping Wendy getting her head kicked in if he came round inadvertantly!). Wendy and Marie kept Tim down as the anaesthetic wore off before letting him up again.
Pics to follow, please don’t scroll down if you are of a fragile disposition!
Flat out after the op.
The yellow is summer fly cream and iodine wash
Waiting for him to come round
Smiles for Tim’s blog!
Roll on dinner time!!
Up and doing normal Dales stuff within 20 minutes!
Modern art!! I thought they were huge!
Poor little chap, but too late to change my mind now! He seemed remarkably un-phased, I hope he’s not too uncomfortable tomorrow. The boys were back with him after an hour. Send the little chap some good vibes!
Apologies if this has shocked/upset anyone but I had no idea what a gelding entailed and thought those in a similar position to me might find it beneficial.
Tim is none the worse for wear this morning and is only a little swollen and weepy (but wouldn't you be if you'd just lost your berlocks! ) Sue said she's less frightened by him this morning! He had his legs washed and was as good as gold and his temp was only very slightly elevated. He has had devil's claw and white willow bark (pain and swelling) and seems to be enjoying the attention!
Sadly Isaac pulled up lame in his lesson the afternoon so everyone's on devil's claw!! Girls are chuffed they are out of reach and can do serious eating! Amy is getting cresty!!
And I am officially mad as I'm thinking of having more!!
Tim says Hi and Bye and would still like the young ladies to write to him and come visiting!!! ;D
