:'(Connie has had a nose bleed this morning....quite a lot of blood then it became a trickle and when I left the stables it appeared to have stopped... Has anyone else had experience of this with their horses...she doesn't appear to have banged her head or anything and is just her normal self in every other respect. Obviously if it starts up again I will be calling the vet.

Thanks Heather ...I have been and called in on her again and it seems to have stopped. Yard owner is keeping an eye on her and will contact me and the vet if she is concerned.

Hiya leanne, Scout had 2 nose bleeds, not together and about 4 years ago now...not after any exercise, had just brought him in from the field, and again a few months later I rang the vet and they said similar to heather, some times theres no ryme or reason.its never happened since ? but I would keep an eye just incase, hugs Valerie x

I used to ride 2 racers that were bleeders, and they would have bleeds in the stable if they were stressed or excited.
I'm with the others, monitor it and if it happens again shout the vet.

my thoroughbred used to do this occasionally, usually when she was upset/excited. the trouble with blood is a little goes a long way in scaring the pants off us when it's coming from our ponies.

There was a horse who used to do it a fair bit on our yard, he was allergic to some things and they happened the same time each year (around this time)- guess it was pollen related or due to them cutting fields?
