I wonder how WDF who started this post is doing with her pony, cause this post was started a year ago ! I looked and I noticed I commented back then x she was on recently x aaawww TQ for asking I actually lurk in the background most days & yes I did post recently. Doc got the all clear by the MAIN practice vet I use as "SHE" was on holiday when Doc's checkup was due so I grabbed my chance for a differing opionion ;D ; he said he's fetlock was 100% better and couldn't see AT ALL ANY signs of Lami (Doc was barefoot at that time) & turn out/work could resume. I gradually re-introduced grass over the winter & by March we were back to normal grazing (but on a much sparcer area - just in case!). In April I started backing him again when he became slighly footy so he now has front shoes on, over the summer we've done many In-Hand shows & he now is hacking around the perimeter of the farm fields & schooling well. I still can't take him out on the roads as he's still rather manic & dangerous B U T I'm REALLY really pleased how he's done this year so all being well thats my "goal" for next year, not sure he'll ever accept traffic tho, we'll just have to see

Thanks for the update. You've done really well with your lad by the sounds of it. And glad you got the vet sorted out. Did you ever get an explanation of her strange approach from the head vet?

Good to hear this update. Glad things are going well.
I can't fault my vet. She just rang a few minutes ago to find out how Winnie is after his choke episode on Monday.

really pleased you were able to dodge round the one vet and get a different diagnosis. I find sometimes with this sort of vet, they haven't a clue, but are trying to guard their best interests. I honestly prefer a vet that simply admits they haven't a clue, but are doing their best and will continue to research or look for a second opinion over the ones that shut down and bully forwards with an entrenched opinion. To me it sounds like you and Doc have truly progressed over the year, and you're definitely doing right by him if he's remained sound this whole time. I'll join Doc's ranks with riding alongside traffic ~ no way! I don't think cars and horses mix. Most the drivers we have in America are, in my humble opinion, too stupid to know how to drive around horses. Its just not a risk I'm willing to take.

Well done Von, great to hear Docs schooling is going well. It may take time with the traffic, his still young. Do what you thinks best with the vets.
