I had a dog brought into the police station yesterday, she had been caught by a member of the public who saw her run into the road.Good news doggie was micro chipped to an address about 50 miles away - so I presumed it was someone on holls or similar.Phoned them on the mobile number stored with the pet log.The dog had been stolen in Oct 2007!!!!!! They could not believe that at last they have their beloved pet home, not too much the worse for wear, the owners had all the paper work and even posters of the doggie when she went missing and her photo was still on their mobile phone, just in case......
Just shows how good micro chipping is and what a great result!

What a brilliant ending!!! Which reminds me to update the kids' photos and info. The police (at least here in the US) need proof positive it is indeed your animal before you can have it back.

That's such a good news story - thanks for posting it! Were you there when the doggie was reunited with the owners? I think I'd have been in floods of tears LOL

By the way what sort of dog was it? Not that it matters ..it's just that I would have thought that the sick people who steal pets would be more inclined to steal a pedigree. Poor poor Dog I do hope it settles back with the true owners after it's ordeal.

What wonderful news! So nice to have good news in this section. I know how much I cried when I was reunited with Scruff after just over 24 hours apart so can't imagine what these owners must have felt like! That's a long time to be without your dog and a huge amount of heartbreak. Wow!
