Just read in the national press that due to the shortages of hay and the likely increased cost caused by little of last year's hay being left over, thefts of hay are on the increase.
16 bales were stolen from a field in North Yorkshire after thieves smashed the lock on the gate. In another incident a trailer stacked with round bales was stolen in Winchester. That company said it was becoming a frequent occurrence.
So all you lucky folk who make your own hay . . . keep a close eye on it!
