I'm sorry to ask for yet more Dalesfans vibes for my critters but today Galahad needed the vet out. He was laying down too long after breakfast (and at an odd time, but I thought maybe he was dusting himself for flies). Lunchtime I went out, but found him flat out in the sun (40*C temps). Scurried to get him into the shade and grabbed the phone as I couldn't even get him up. Vet asking for gut sounds when I explained the problem. Thankfully they appeared 45 minutes later and Galahad was poked, prodded, and no gut sounds from any quadrant. Pooh pulled, but to be honest, it was small and moist and not impaction type pooh. Nosetube done, no reflux, minerals and water down, Banamine. Galahad wandered around, seemed to be dozing in the shade so I went back indoors to cool down. Then our electricity cut out busy with the electric company, phoned the vet who had taken bloods and everything came back totally normal. Baseline Galahad's fine I went out to feed Galahad a tiny supper since he'd missed lunch, but he refused to even look at it, and then he coughed and water came out his nose Back onto the phone to the vet The prognosis is not good, it can be a twisted gut, or it can be a very high impaction. We made the choice to let him go the night to see if its an impaction that'll clear. It doesn't seem to be a twist, at least he's not thrashing like I'd expect with a twist. Please, any and all soothe good tummy vibes would be most appreciated

MANY thanks for the good vibes he managed to make it through the night. I checked on him at 3am and he was at his water trough taking a long sweet time drinking so I left him be. I'm about to go out and feed and check. He looks so forlorn, but he's upright at least. I so hope its an impaction that's working its way out. ...edited...no new poohs. We're headed to the vet for more Banamine this morning. I can't hear any gut movement. He's breathing hard, but that's the only thing out of the norm for him. I'm hoping with the banamine we can keep him comfortable and get his gut to start working again. I can't do belly rubs on him, its too tender at the moment, so I was barely able to listen for the gut sounds. Poor boy I hate colic

We came back, gave him the banamine shot, but he was straining. He walked a bit, and started to go down in the sunlight. I managed to physically push him over into the shade under the mulberry trees. The vet was on his way. Galahad was straining so hard. I think it was a high up impaction. He died on his own just before the vet arrived. This isn't easy, Galahad was my horse of a lifetime, but I was so glad I was there for him at the end. He knew he was loved. The vet thought Galahad's body might actually have been shutting down. That the colic was secondary. My poor boy, run free
