First time with the roller on today, put it on fairly slack he walked a few steps then I took it off, don't know if that was the right thing to do lol maybe I should have left it on longer ;D he didn't seem bothered then I brought a saddle over for Trev to have a look at he had a lick and an attempt to chew at it silly boy ;D then it was popped on his back and I slapped it and flapped the flap up and down a bit - no girth with the saddle tho Now what do I do about mouthing/bitting

ha, go Trev! He looks awesome Zelda, really growing up now!
I shove the roller on, make them walk about, i might if i've got some time just leave them with it on in a stable so they get used to turning etc but he sounds like he's had a normal dales reaction to it....nothing. Same with the saddle. The more flapping and bashing about you can do now the better. I do star jumps, fling my arms everywhere, slap the stirrup leathers on the saddle...anything and everything (Obviously if he's bothered do it gently to start with and built up!)
re mouthing, bitting. Just start with a french-link/jointed snaffle. Pop it in over his headcollar (normally remove the noseband for ease) and just leave it for 10 minutes. Then repeat this for a few days building up the time. You can then start to move him about with a lead on the head collar and bit and start to switch between one and the other until after a few days you're just leading off the bridle. He'll go from really mouthing it to just accepting it.

Thanks Anna Lucy that is so cruel Sue making Tim trot poor poor pony Julie the funny thing is we got him out of the field and I stood next to him and said he's bl**dy enormous and when I looked at this pic he looks so much smaller I'll see if I can get a pic of me standing next to him. Sara reckons he's got a lot wider in the last few weeks - must be the extra grass he's getting lol ;D

Haha! He looks rather small in the first pic, and in the second pic we see you almost disappearing behind him LOL.
So nice to hear that he's not bothered by any of the stuff you do to him :-). What must our pones be thinking: "O dear, here's my human again flopping my saddle about thinking I could be bothered.... Hey, grass!"

I'm a fan of Trev's too & it's lovely to see what a laid-back pony he's turning in to.

Another Trevor fan here! Such a handsome & laid back pone, wow has he grown. Barely seeing you behind him there, you may have to have a chat with him about how he's getting about tall enough so no more growing taller!
