Well I had the most fabulous ride on Saturn today! He was on his toes, full of energy and didn't get tired! We only went out for just under two hours though. Pam came as well and she said that Saturn looked ok. I have upped his balancer and his linseed and will see how that goes. If that isn't enough then I will give him some Baileys Number 4. The thing that is holding me off from that, although it would actually be cheaper than what I am doing at the moment, is that the girl from Baileys said that extra balancer would be less likely to make him silly than adding Baileys number 4. With my lack of riding fitness after a year off and dread of hitting the deck, I think I am going to play safe!!
According to Pam, Saturn is better looking than I thought he was so perhaps I am just a worried Mummy!

Thats good to hear Linda, if you are at all worried about doubling up vits and mins using No.4 on top of a balancer then Topspec Cool Condition cubes are almost the same ingredients as No.4 but without vit/mins included .
The only other thing would be to move from Lo-cal onto another balancer with a bit more feed value. (I use Topspec usually, lite for the fatties and orig if they need a bit extra)

Yes, Saturn really does look fine. He has lost a bit of muscle which is to be expected after not being ridden for a year but he is not looking poor by any means. He has a good covering all over and coat in good condition. He was really up for it today which was lovely to see. Whatever you are doing must be right. Give him a few more weeks, gradually building up his workload and on full balancer rations and I'm sure you will have nothing to worry about.

I know this is likely a silly question as I'm sure this has all been done but given his disinterest in his hay--but of course you've wormed, checked teeth etc.?
