Hi everyone, hope you're all well! Haven't been on here for ages as I've been so busy but I do have a lurk sometimes..
This year's Midlands Dales Pony Show will be held on Sunday 21st July at Gorse Farm, Lazy Hill Road, Walsall, WS9 9DS. The schedule will be released upon completion in mid April, if not before.
NPS and MIDARC qualifiers for in hand, ridden, working hunter, dressage and showjumping! Also lots of fun classes including handy pony, long reining, clear round and timed trot. The day's been arranged so you can enter as many classes as possible.
Gorse Farm is very easily accessable from all areas of the country with good motorway links, only a few hours from the north, south London and Wales.
There is also a limited amount of electricity hook ups for overnight stays but we are awaiting further details of this.
If you need any further information please contact dales@aprelisconservation.co.uk as I don't check my messages on here very often. I will post on here when schedules become avaliable and how you can access them.
If anyone is interested in helping out on the day or sponsoring one of the classes that would be FANTASTIC. It's £20 a class or £25 to have company details on rosettes and your own colours etc. Email me for a form if you're interested.
Thanks! April

Forgot to mention - some of the classes will be open to part breds and unregistered ponies of Dales type (15hh and under) providing owners/riders are members of the Society so hopefully there really will be something for everyone!

Thank you! I'm really looking forward to it.. Hope I can do it justice!! Just another quick plea for class sponsorship.. It would be fantastic if any of you would like to sponsor a class, be it as an individual/stud/business we've got a few of the fun classes with prize money and it would be great to know that's covered I'm happy to put banners/adverts etc. up for the day. Or even if any of you wanted to combine as a group, or chip in and give a small amount of sponsorship towards a class that would be great too!

Great not far from us. In fact I grew-up in that area. Then it was called Boydells and used to be a ridding school. We will be there with our two.

This maybe a stupid question but I have an unregistered Dales and would love to take her to this as I am very local. Do I have to become a member? And if so how do I become a member. Thanks

Hi, where are you based? There's a lovely Dales looking pony up the road from my house in Pelsall and I'm dying to find out whose it is!! Yes you have to become a member if you want to come along to the show, as it is only members covered by the insurance. All the details are on the website www.dalespony.org/Services.html

Thanks - I'll take a look at the website.
I'm based in Cannock so not too far away. I know Pelsall well.
I don't know anyone else with a Dales so shall look forward to coming along.

Hi classes for unregistered ponies are class 15 (novice dressage) class 18 and 19 (very novice and novice working hunter) then all fun classes including handy pony and jumping, classes 21 to 28. I was tempted to put an inhand and ridden class for unreg ponies but wasn't sure how it would fit in with timings etc. So will be keeping an eye on times this year to see where I can fit them in in the future! In my eyes it's really important to include unregistered ponies as it inspires people to become more involved in the breed.. I know I wouldn't have bought a registered pony if I hadn't got my unregistered

Thanks for info April. It is dissapointing there is not more more classes for the unreg ponies to enter and it does put me off a little but never mind. A ridden class would have been ideal.

Hi all, a reminder that there's just one week left to get entries in for the Midlands show (due next Monday, 8th July). Don't forget there's prize money up for grabs in some of the fun classes, loads of NPS qualifiers, along with silver medal rosettes to in hand and ridden champ. MIDARC and Cricklands qualifiers too. Met office is saying good weather with above average sun and temperature counts and below average rain, so I'm hopeful! Lovely quiet showground for youngsters, and overnight stabling and electric hook ups if required. We've got loads of trophies and some lovely rosettes up for grabs, including DPS merit rosettes for selected stallions, colts and mares. Also a lovely breeder's rosette for the in hand champ.
If anyone's unsure about NPS qualifiers, they're really easy to understand once you've got your head around it. You don't have to be an NPS member to take part in the classes at breed shows, only upon qualifying do you need to become a member.

Don't forget the Midlands Show is this Sunday! Still trying to trace the Smart Alec Novice Working Hunter Trophy if anyone has any ideas, seems it went missing during the 2011 show!

Massive thanks to all of our competitors, judges, stewards and helpers, especially sponsors as we couldn't have gone ahead and held the show without your support! The sponsors' rosettes went down really well and is something I'm definitely going to do again next year! Thanks once again and if anyone wants to see pics they're on www.equinepix.co.uk
