Are you ready for more pics? today we signed the papers so it's official!!! *tosses confetti
Now for the other half... I kept quiet because I really didn't know how it would evolve, but we also have trekking horses that came with the place. The previous owners had run it as a successful trekking business. At the moment, I'm not sure if we'll continue with the trekking or not. All the locals say the trekking season only begins at July 4th, which is our Independence Day, so we'll see if the horses can generate enough income to justify my slogging through a cold, wet Oregon winter taking good care of them
This is how Dundee and Blossom reacted to being told the joyous news:
For most peeps, this is not unusual. It has to be said, the whole time we lived in Missouri, Blossom rarely laid down for a nap. She always shot to her feet. Now they seek me out, see me in the sunroom and instantly flop themselves to the ground flat out to sleep. I think my two are blissfully happy and there's no pricetag that could ever be hung on that for my heart!
Isn't that gorgeous? This is the other parcel of land we own. It's on the same side of the highway, but across a lane from the main farm. This is the herd currently used for treks on the farm.
The white blob to the right is the colt, youngest of the group and recently gelded...appy boy. He had his first birthday May 5th...His name is Indeway.
Okayk I think this lineup is don't know on the far left, Lass, Johnnie and Rita. Rita's a red dun, mother to the appaloosa colt.
Reigny, the alpha mare. I was told she was the boss! But truth is, Johnnie, our veteran at 18 is the real boss, Reigny is trying to move her way up in status and is second in command. This is Johnnie:
The others are Lass and Tempest, the younger mares. I'll try to add better pics, but it's a start.
Alright, this was the last pic. I realized I didn't get any decent pics of the colt, but these two are Tempest on the left (and she may get a name change) and Lass (I shortened her name from Lasso) on the right. These are my two younger mares. They got started last year, but they are very young yet. If you ask different people, they are anywhere from three year olds to five year olds. I personally think they're in the four year to five year range but haven't peeked in their mouths much yet. All of the horses are very ishish in age, and none of them are registered, which is fine with me as dude horses. Indeway could easily be registered as an appy though. I might make the effort to get him registered, even if he is gelded.
