Wow, congratulations! It must be so rewarding to bring a foal you've bred to going happily under the saddle. Lovely to see.

It was pretty amazing and doesn't feel quite real. We aren't doing much as my health isn't great these days but we're happy bumbling about just enjoying what we can manage to do. That's enough for me these days and I'm lucky that he doesn't seem to want to do major stuff, he's happy doing groundwork and horse agility type stuff to keep his brain busy which is good.

Thanks for all the lovely comments. Forward is his middle name, he definitely has a Standardbred trot and it's taken ages to teach him normal, working trot. About half way through the video above he launches into trot as Rose whinnies to him from round the back of the house. A friend who does animal communication told me he prefers Legs to his posh name of Legato

I'm sure he does prefer Legs. Legato is a bit of an abstract to him, but it's a wonderful posh name for him. don't worry Legs, I prefer Debbie to Deborah too. Gosh, it brings back the memories of that long, hard foalwatch. Soooo sleep deprived, but nothing like you were for it. You did an amazing job bringing him into the world and then bringing him up right. I'm so pleased he's *knock on wood been sensible for you to back. I remember watching some of his earlier movements and thinking Thank Goodness it's not me that'll be trying to be oop there. He's always had a sweet personality, but my word he's atheletic.

I'm so glad you were helping Debbie, without your alerting phone call we'd have been in trouble.
I haven't ridden him since this as my muscles aren't co-operating but my I structor is coming at the weekend and I'm going to ask introducing some poles, grids and jumping online and at liberty as that will help his development and give us something else to do over the winter.

I was so happy to help you with your foalwatch so you and M could get some sleep. I was horrified when I phoned and woke M up and looked back to the video and the sack had disappeared I was sick to my stomach that I'd woke him for naught, but then it all began to happen quickly. I'm so glad you were onhand to help her with the foaling out. LOL, he was one overdue bun I'm sure Legs will enjoy doing the pole work and jumpies. I think it was Clint Anderson who also reverses his horses from their stalls to the work space to engage their stomach muscles and stretch the topline. Although I'm not that keen on reversing so much, I know from my own experience of dragging a tree out of Blossom's paddock, it engaged my own stomach muscles and hamstrings like no other workout has done Go with the flow for your own needs. I know how frustrating it is, but do what you can when you can
