Cassey came to me when she was 11 and I 13. She was heavily traumatized. I remember the first time seeing her; she was the most beautiful horse I'd ever seen. She wouldn't let me near her head and kept turning away. Finally I managed to reach her by walking backwards. There I stood gently against her shoulder, stroking that beautiful black coat. Then someone entered the stable and Cassey pressed herself against me softly. Then I knew: This is my horse. Next week I rode her (NOT a comfortable ride), a week later I took her home. She was scared, a bit crazy and nervous, but very sweet and kindhearted. With a lot of love she quickly became a happy horsey. The sense of being completely lost now, is simply the price to pay for having the privilege to have had such a wonderful horse in my life. Very grateful for over 13 years of friendship! Cassey was 25 years old. The day before she went away, the kids and I went to say goodbye. I'm very glad she had a very very nice last summer with her friend Caspar. Our first pic together when I was 13. I had just gotten her home. I thought I lost this, but my father had it. I've been thinking about this pic and how much I wanted it. Such a precious photo! Look at how tiny I was, haha! Old pic when I was 13 or 14. Two summers ago. Goodbye my sweet lass. I love you!

Another one in tears here too!
What a lovely tribute to your gorgeous girl.
I love all the photos, but especially the second one, with her surrounded by those who love her.
What a very very fortunate pony to have been loved so much for so many years.

She looks a lovely girl, love the pictures with the children but especially love the last one, it just looks like there's so much love between you. You're both very lucky to have had such a lovely relationship for so long. I liked your description of when you first met and you walked backwards to her shoulder to get near enough to touch her, that's exactly what I used to do with Emerald when I first got her and she was too frightened to let me touch her. RIP Cassey
