Showing Youngsters

Just wondering how many shows/trips out a year you aim to take your youngstock to until they're old enough to be backed, so perhaps foals to 4 years?

I know it will depend on the pony in question but a rough guide would be fab.
Guessing it's best not to overdo it, but good to get them out and have a bit of experience under their belt!

Also - I know this will vary again, but do you stick to more local shows or go further afield?
