I had the results of Emeralds poo sample back on Saturday and it was < 50 epg (no eggs seen) so she doesn't need worming this time, I have discussed with my vet and I will do a saliva test the end of August and worm for tapeworm in Sept if necessary.
So relieved not to have to worm her just yet, just as we are getting going, she's already had one week off due to putting up a splint, but as she's still not lame the vet says we can start ridden work again this week, I'll probably give her until the weekend so Sam can get on her first after 10 days off (I'm still a bit of a chicken where she's concerned).

That's good news! I want to do the saliva test on my lot too so do please post when you have yours done as a reminder for me!
Good idea to wait until the weekend before starting on Em again. It won't hurt her to have a few extra days off.

I have just spent a very interesting hour talking to an herbalist who works from a small unit near me, I was told about him by a friend who I was talking to at another friends 60th birthday party on Saturday. She was going over to collect some fly stuff that he makes up based on neem oil which she has found very useful against horse flies, and she asked if I'd to go with her.
He makes herbal wormers which you put in a feed for 2 days once a month, so I have bought a bottle to try, it cost £20 for a years supply and I will continue with the worm counts to see if its working.
He also gave me a sample of a pre/pro biotic to try as I mentioned that I had tried her on one and she wouldn't eat it, so we'll see if she'll eat this stuff.
His place smells amazing and he seems to be very knowledgable and has horses himself, I had heard about him a few years ago when he had successfully treated a pony with sarcoids but had forgotten all about him.
He also sharpens clipper blades at £4 per set and no postage for me, so I'll give him a try for that as well in the autumn.

long may it continue!!! I know what you mean about things being hit or miss with the herbal treatments. I had one spiffy joint support supplement that I tried on Blossom and another glutton type horse and neither would touch their buckets. It's been the same with other supplements, sometimes they take great exception to the herb. Let us know how the results come back for the saliva test and the herbal dewormer it's always nice to have other things to try.
