I took my mare to her 1st show in September (she was an angel bless her) bathed but untrimmed and she looked like a hairy mongrel compared to others in the class.
Also I've been spying at county level shows this summer and a fair few of the native ponies have definitely had some scissor action (jawline and ears).
Is a bit of trimming allowed?? If so how much is too much as I can get a bit scissor happy....

I wouldn't if you get scissor happy best not to get them in your hand lol lol, it's easy to end up with unnatural look in my opinion

We dont but find ours are looking hairy by September. Rory was fully clipped for countryside live bar head and legs (some pics in horsey chat). The only trimming I did bar the clip was I did take the ends off his ear fluff and they looked ridiculous!

Difficult one! I'm not a showing person and agree with the others, best to leave untrimmed for showing but I know a lot of people do. As mine work hard at other disciplines I do trim and clip for their own comfort and health but I really can't advise on what's best for showing. In theory, I don't see why it should matter and any judge worth their salt should be able to see what's going on under all that hair.
