and wow what a big boxful of stuff and I nearly had to take out a mortgage to pay for it, but it should be enough for the whole treatment unless Donna decides to change or add anything as the things progress.
I took Connie for a treatment with Donna yesterday and picked Ems stuff up at the same time, Connie was quite bemused by the whole thing, I don't think she has ever had an osteopath treatment before but was very good, she had stiffness in her poll, lumber spine, sacrum, hip and stifle on the right side and when Donna freed it all off she was able to breath more deeply as it freed up her diaphragm as well. She now needs a few days off.
I picked up a big box of stuff for Em including 2 different lots of bacteria, colloidal silver in 2 conc. L-glutamine, milk thistle, dandelion root, angelica, black cumin seeds, green clay, and some tablets, can't remember what they are. She was supposed to email the treatment protocol to go with it last night but haven't received it yet, I haven't been able to contact her either, so I'm starting to think something is wrong as it's not like her not to reply.
I will start as soon as get the protocol and she needs to see Donna again in 4 weeks and then I think every 4 weeks until the end of the treatment. Fingers crossed it will work for her, or at least make her more comfortable than she is now.

I've now got the protocol and it's split into 3 phases:
Phase 1 -to remove the bad bacteria/fungi 6 weeks
Phase 2 - to create the correct gut environment 6 weeks
Phase 3 - to re-establish normal gut flora 16 weeks
It's quite complicated, starting with 12 different supplements with some different ones being given morning and evening. It changes approx. every 4 weeks so it will be pretty time consuming making up her feeds, probably easier when I get used to it though. She also can't have chlorinated tap water so I have to use either filtered water or spring water to mix her feeds with and her field water has to stand open to sunlight for 24hrs before she has it, so I'll have to have a container of water just outside her paddock and bucket water in to her trough after its stood. Apparently the chlorine affects the gut flora/environment.
Quite a faff but if it works it will be worth it, she's not a happy pony at the moment.

I hope it works, hope she eats it in her feeds.

I hope it works, hope she eats it in her feeds. That's my fear Barbara, that she won't eat it, I made the first lot up last night ready for this morning and just going to give them their breakfast now so we'll soon see. She is very greedy but if she doesn't like something she won't touch her feed if it just has the tiniest amount in it.

No, as I feared she won't eat it, she had a couple of mouthfuls and pushed it around her mouth pulling some awful faces then carefully picked the parsnip out and ate it tentatively as it obviously tasted of the new feed I was trying to poison her with and left the rest. I've left it with her and haven't given her any hay to try to encourage her to eat it.

Oh dear, I have a couple like that. How about an extra strong mint before the feed, or two mints crushed up in the feed? Molasses?

Blossom's greedy, but if there's something new in it, she balks as well. My coati Amanda was the worst for it she'd simply smell something new and she could go for days without food. What about applesauce? I used that a lot to hide things for Blossom and Galahad. She has a lot of very good stuff in here. I've used everything but the angelica and black cumin seeds for m'self, minus the mystery tablets of course. Let's hope Emerald can get around her pickiness as this would really help her to heal from the inside out.

She had eaten her breakfast by teatime and ate her tea all but a very little bit which I left with her, so looks like she's away with it now. I mixed her tea up much drier, the silver is supposed to be diluted in 500ml of water and then added to her feed but she doesn't have masses of feed so it would be like soup and she hates wet feed so tonight I used 200ml and used it to soak her speedibeet, much more to her liking.
She doesn't like mints (odd pony) and I can't use molasses as she is supposed to have a really low sugar diet, but hopefully now she'll be OK with it, she's usually a bit funny with anything new.

That's all good then, let's hope it helps her a lot in time. My fussy ones would have just kicked it out of the feed bowl and mixed it in with their bedding.

Blossom doesn't like mints or cinnamon either. I'm SO glad Em's decided to eat the herbs! *knocks on wood that she continues to do so easily throughout the course of her treatment

Yes she's eating it like normal now, Donna said to watch out for heat in her feet and digital pulse during the detox period, so I'm getting a bit paranoid and checking twice a day, nothing so far though thank goodness.

Ice will always be your friend, or even a cold hose if you need during the detoxing. Hang in there, sometimes it gets ugly, but they'll be much better once they've detoxed
