Areas 4 and 14 are organising a trec training day on Sunday 11th October 2015. Arena based lessons will run for an hour or an hour and a half and you will be taught how to tackle a variety of trec obstacles. Some are ridden and some are on foot. See here for the training website www.trec-training.uk/ It is suitable for all abilities. It will be in the Wakefield area and either at the trec lady's yard or if we have enough participants we can hire an indoor school. It will cost around £20 each and may be a little more or less depending on numbers and venue. We need to have a minimum number to run this event so if you want to come please let me know (KC - Kirsty with Oscar) ASAP. I will be asking those who would like to attend to fill in an entry form and send me a cheque to secure places. It should be lots of fun for us and the ponies will love it. Please can everyone share this with their Dales friends on Facebook etc. All welcome.

Kirsty, thank you
All DPS members welcome. We do all have to be DPS members to attend DPS events, or be able to prove own insurance.
I have now set up a facebook page for Area 4&14 events. You can find it on facebook at " Dales Pony Areas 4 and 14 "
I will also post this on my own website and Highclose ponies facebook pages as well, to make sure we capture everyone.

Oh I really wish I could come. I want to try TREC with Jacques but don't understand the Idiot's Guide that was sent to me by my nearest club - it's in french and even though my french is fairly good now, it might as well be in martian This event looks like it will be really good fun with expert tuition and good company

I doubt I'll be there with a pony, but would love to come watch/learn/help if that's possible, as Trec is something I'd like to have a try at one day.

It sounds like I'm being told I'm doing it (unless Lucy is intending hacking- she hasn't negotiated with her driver yet!!). As its a dales clinic I'll probably bring Patience. Yanny- where abouts are you?

Shame it clashes with the Scarborough 10k that I do every year.
But to reiterate, the top 3 handy pony scores (by quite a margin) at the Performance Show were all from 'Treccies'! So if you've an eye on a championship prize next year......;-)

...and our nearest Trec Center is 1000 miles away in North Carolina! although they are wonderfully welcome about walk-ins. Talk about idiot's guide--even in English I realize that my orienteering skills work only when there is a full moon, clear night sky, rising/setting sun or am familiar with local geography and rivers, and even then, got good an lost right out my back door a few weeks ago for poor ponies' Very Long Day Out. Have been far too long dependent on pony's keen sense of which way lies dinner. Am completely daunted by the idea of sitting for a timed amount in map room and then sent out to be potentially lost forever, but am obsessed with learning how to do this. It's hard enough memorizing dressage tests and jump rounds! The obstacles and general skills don't scare me (well maybe the getting on from the 'wrong' side?)--it's the roads and tracks map stuff. Cadeby, maybe I'd do better with the French version? Is it illegal to use Google Earth?

Well we had a fab day yesterday, Doris came out of retirement for one day only to look after my frends grand-daughter Caitlin. I did wonder if I was asking too much of her as she's not been out anywhere for years, but she was a total pro! Pictures of all attendee on here. www.facebook.com/TRECtraining/timelineEdited to say = have a look at Emily and Paitience doing the 'low branches' she really did duck down!
