That's a good start, Julie. Hope it works out for you too, Val. I was feeling confident we'll get our hay but this warm, humid, damp weather isn't promising.

I feel for you all. I hate the stress of hay-making. We've been having a heatwave - virtually no rain for 8 weeks and temps in the 30s (too hot for me !) The plus side is that our hay making season was stress-free and over and done with by the first week of June. The down side is that we have absolutely no grass so are having to feed hay already Hope you get better weather next week xx

Think I'd prefer your problem, Helen. If we lose this year's crop I do still have 2 stables full of last year's hay so it won't be a huge disaster but next year, I'm going to try foggage.

That's a new term...foggage. I hope the weather co operates for you Pam! Helen, that's been us this year. So incredibly hot and dry and I'm already having to feed hay I'm not keen on that at all given the farmers have only managed a first cutting. They're expecting a hard long winter for us too. Maybe with luck we'll get a Fall second cutting, yes?

Well we got it baled and in the barn yesterday! It was a mad dash because the forecast wasn't good. Andy came home early and the 2 of us were flat out bringing the bales in from 4pm, finishing in the dark at 9! We were both totally exhausted. I could hardly sleep because every time I tried to move my calves and hands cramped up. Andy took the day off today to recover and we both lounged about in a stupor. Starting to recover now. What we do for our ponies!

What a relief you've got it all in!!!! Now for something fizzy and a bit of R & R to recover from it all

Glad you managed to get it all in OK, just as well you've got a big strong man to help you, they do have their uses LOL, I second Debbies suggestion of something cold and fizzy to help you both relax and celibrate
