Have taken a sharp intake of breath : I would have died if George did that. I have asked if he can have a new neighbour when he comes in for the winter as his summer friend has chewed a chunk of mane out where they mutual groom over the doorways.

I had that problem with Blossom and Dundee being too vigorous with their mutual grooming. I sprayed some Bitter Apple on their manes, the sort that's used to stop dogs from chewing items and it worked a treat it only took one application and they moved their grooming to backs and shoulders instead of manes.

I feel your pain. My Fell mare Spice has just lost most of her mane. It was sooo beautiful, and hung way past her shoulder, but either she or one of her naughty field buddies has scalped her literally overnight But, as you say, it's only hair. The pony underneath is more important I hear that Donald Trump does a good line in toupees and glue.....
