Rare Breeds of the Year Show, Houghton Hall, Huntingdon

There was an amazing entry of Dales ponies yesterday at this show. 6 entries in youngstock class, 4 in-hand geldings, 10 in-hand mares, 12 (yes 12!) in Traditional Ridden and 8 in the Open Ridden. People had come from the south coast right up to the North, and hopefully everyone got home safely. There were some novice ponies present who were a bit overawed by all the hackney ponies/horses and their very noisy supporters, but all the ponies were of good quality and most behaved extremely well under the circumstances.

My mare did really well (4th in Trad ridden, and 3rd in Open Ridden) so was delighted with her. However I did not get all the results, so if anyone knows them please let us know.

I heard it was well supported but someone said the atmosphere was not as good as last year.

I've seen quite a few photos from the day now. What a great turnout of Dales. I must try and get there next year.
