Andrea, I'm intending on coming up for some of the visits, and will most likely be on my own too, so will look out for you!

It will be good to meet you Fi, and all the others dalesfans going, I have my B&B booked so no going back now. It's a converted stables nr Hamsterly with just 2 rooms each with private bathroom and kitchen and lounge area, looks nice and reviews are good, there is still a double room available for that week so if anyone else fancies it, it would be good to have another dales person staying there. Prices very reasonable too.

I'm looking forward to it too. We haven't decided whether to find stables nearly and stay or travel and what events to do with ponies and which ponies to bring. Duke is now backed so it's either going to be Patience plus Duke or Rory

I'd really like to take part with new pony but would need somewhere to stay with PONY. Have I left it too late not to corall?

there is a list of where to stay and where your pony can stay on the dps site. Try Amy Bulmer, she had space and her place is about 25 mins from show field and central for a lot.

I envy all of you going. I've more or less decided it would be too much to bring Harvey all that way at his age.

It's a once in a lifetime thing for me I'm taking Musk and sharing with Lindsay and her daughter who've kindly let me tag along. We are traveling up on the Thursday so the ponies can recover on the Friday before the President's ride. Hope to see you there at some point

How wonderful, I'll just have to content myself with being there minus pony, but you're right it is a once in a lifetime thing.

Martin and I are hopefully coming for the first half of the week; Saturday to Wednesday, sadly without any ponies as it's just too expensive to bring them over from France. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finale of the Presidents Ride through Barnard Castle, and the stud visits, but will be sad to miss the Summer Show and the Kilhope Lead Mine visit We've booked a B&B at Wolsingham, about 30 minutes north of BC. However, we haven't found farm/animal-sitters yet, so it may or may not happen. We reserved our accomodation using booking.com and can cancel with no penalties if we really have to.

Helen I've booked my B & B through booking.com as well, it's good to know you can cancel without loosing money when booking this far ahead as you never know what's going to happen, my biggest uncertainty at the moment is my mother. She is 90 not in the best of health and recent tests showed she has significant heart failure, yet she seems to just keep on going, she can't go on for ever and it would be sods law if she deteriorated badly that week.

I have the same worries with my Mum (80 in May). She was diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago and has done amazingly well on a new drug trial programme, but the cancer has recently spread to her lungs so it's getting towards the final stages now. My Mum is adamant that I continue to make plans, book holidays, carry on as normal etc... but that's easier said than done. Hopefully we'll both get to see the Centenary celebrations and our mums will do as well as they possibly can in the circumstances xxx
