I didn’t know about Linda’s group, I would love to join. Also more than happy to be admin/ mod if it helped out an got us going again.
I’m on a farmers wide page, it’s completely locked down an there are questions that are asked when u join so u fit the farmers wife criteria. It’s fab an also what is said on there stays on there. Which I like.
It’s just an idea an something I would be more than happy to help with xxx

I've just had a look and it doesn't appear to be there any more. Linda set it up along with Sue and Gill I think. It never took off because at that time Dalesfans here was still quite active. It would be nice to be able to kep touch with the old Dalesfans group but I do have reservations. Partly becuase I wouldn't want to start "competition" with the page Evie set up and partly becuae I actually find this sort of forum set up more useful, personal and easier to find information ie a veterinary section, saddlery section etc etc. Or can a FB page be as personal if it is kept small?

Totally understand about the Evie page, an that was also my thoughts, bit definitely wouldn’t want it to feel like a competition.
What is Evie’s page called Pam? Is it Dalesfans? Or dales appreciation? I know I’m on one or two.
I’m not sure we could set it up as this one is with individual sections, it would be like a wall of posts as such, like a time line.
It would be lovely to have us all active in one place again, that was my main thought as I do miss the group an feel Iv lost touch.
What if I set up a private group chat on Facebook and invited sue, Gill, Zelda, Debbie, Olivia, Linda, Emily, Valerie an any others you know who we very active on here, am maybe try and get the board going again or if they have any other ideas of how to start something different.
Please please don’t think I’m being pushy Pam an I understand if u would rather I didn’t xxx

Row of course you're not being pushy and it's entirely up to you. My personal feeling is that people's lives have moved in different directions now but maybe I'm wrong and they would still be interested.

I'd just rather keep supporting this forum, rather than have a Facebook page. I mean, there's Evie's page and I'm also on the Rare breeds page, and the North Am. Dales pony page, it's just on Facebook, I do lose things and have a devil of a time finding anything. On here, as Pam says, the formatting is way easier to use. It's easy to navigate and I'd be happy for everyone to simply be able to use this on their phones plus lil photo/video uploads. If Proboards could do that, I'm sure they'd give FB a run for their money! People do like to have decent discussions and FB is nice if you're only passing along a fast compliment. ...editing to add, It's lovely to hear from you again Row!!! Please give Dan a hug from me  |

Yes, I agree with Debbie. I will continue to come on here and post now a few of us are back. The only downside is not being ble to post photos but there has to be a way. I think a few of you made suggestions earlier in this thread - I will ahve to look. I might mention to a couple of people who miss the old DF that it might be worth their while taking another look.

 I'd absolutely LOVE to have everyone back on here! As Row notes, everything is posted on a timeline. Well that doesn't work for me. I lose things so easily and FB isn't search friendly for me. Plus after December, their algorithms have changed and I was abruptly cut off from a LOT of my friends!! They're still in there if I go searching, but they don't show on my feed like they used to. Stuff that! On here, no one's censored, no one's blocked or hidden from view. If they've posted on a thread on here, I see all of it, all of the conversation and all of my friends. THAT'S how it should be! Why would some bot or code randomly block me from seeing friends?! That's not very group friendly and frankly it feels scary/controlling  I certainly haven't felt safe on FB, and I don't want to share much about my ponies on there. The longer time has past, the less I like it. Pam, has Proboards got any options for video uploads or photo uploads from phones? A lot of what I'd seen for people being FB fans stems from ease of use with mobile phones. For photos, I had to switch to using Yahoo's Flikr, but I know other people will use Imgur and set all their settings to private to block people chatting (and apparently some can be nasty with the comments). I also use Webs which will provide a free website to host photos. It's what holds Blossom's photos, like my avatar pic.

Debbie, I will ahve another look on the proboards main forum. I know if you pay a monthly subscription you can load photos directly from phones but I didn't check out how much it was.

I didn't mean for us to have to trigger the 'pay this' sort of subscription thing. I know many people fought for the right to keep DFs free with the ads running. It's just as everyone's moved to mobile phones, trying to sort how to make the Dalesfans board 'mobile' friendly and have the same ease of use as FB. Thank you so much for looking into this!!! |
