I wasn't quite sure how to title this, but wanted to post in General Chat all the same so hopefully even those not logged in can receive the benefits too
Last year my Dad underwent open heart surgery, twice. It wasn't lifestyle or genetics, but rather emotional stress that was the root of the problem. Dad's in his 70s and the whole time I was growing up, getting him to relax was the hardest thing. He is a workaholic and having the surgeon and us say things like 'you need to learn to relax/meditate' wasn't realistic. It was an agony because all of us, even Dad, knew it was cruicial to his recovery. It can take years to learn how to meditate and get the benefits from it, we were at a loss what to do.
A coincidence lead me to Dr Thompson's music. When I looked, Eldon and I already had some of his earlier cds, but I didn't realize how effective it was, or even how long Dr Thompson's been doing this.
In the '80s Dr Thompson pioneered using sound for his chiropractic business. He has a recording studio and he would hook people up to brain scans and machines, play various sounds and frequencies, and then record the effects. The results meant he could play a series of sounds that would destress the paraliminal system, which is your 'fight or flight' system....the very exact thing we needed for my Dad! In a nutshell, the body HAS to relax! The music takes the place of what meditating can do for a person.
I sent my parents this link and I urge anyone who needs the benefits of meditating/destressing/relaxing from the day's traumas to click away. It's a link to Dr Thompson's Sound Cloud for samples of his music. It is completely free, and even just a minute or two listening will have a huge beneficial impact on your health and well being.

I love that it's free, so you can listen to it as much as you like. I asked my parents to play through it and compile a list of the ones they liked. They were chagrined as it was a long list, but I ordered all of them to send along as a belated Christmas/birthday presents. Without a shadow of a doubt, it's one of the best things I've ever done! Both listen to the cds daily. I could hear it in Dad's voice, he was finally FINALLY destressing after decades of being so keyed up. I swear a piece of wood would have been more relaxed than him. It's made a night and day difference to Dad's health.
One last thing to note, my Mom's body didn't agree with one of the samples. I think it overstimulated her nervous system as she has a ton of trauma as well. She had Dad click on the next sound sample. Of course it's one of his favorites, so they made an agreement, Dad listens to it when she's not around, and her favorite, he's no a fan of so she plays it when he's not around basically if your body doesn't like one of the sound samples, click the next one. I reckon in Mom's case, if she wanted to try again, in a few months, she probably could and her body wouldn't have the same reaction. Basically if your body says 'Ick!' no need to torture yourself. Just click ahead.
Anyway, I just wanted to share so others can enjoy and get the same benefits
