Thanks Pam, not doing too bad at the moment, eating not too bad, she's having a variety, hay, haylage, dried grass, soaked stuff, fibre nuts, beet etc, all extra sloppy. Drinking, she's not too keen on plain water so currently having molasses water and that seems to be going down well. 😁
Meds are having to be syringed down her which is going okay 🤔
Wound is not bad, vet came yesterday to take staples out, but only took a few out, part of it is a bit gunky, she took a swab and a pic of it, slight concern, but okay at the moment xx

That sounds good, especially that she is eating OK. I guess it's early days. I would struggle syringing meds so glad she is accepting it OK. Fingers crossed the gunkiness is nothing to worry about. Do keep us posted.

Oh my, I didn't think her wound would be so complicated. I'm glad she's being such a good patient though. What sort of meds are you having to syringe?

Wound not as good now today, it has opened up a bit in two places, (I have pics if you want ) its not deep, but still a bit of pus, waiting for some antibiotic cream from the vet in the post. If its no better tomorrow I might take her back to the vets.
Debbie I have two lots of antibiotics, one is a powder of 50g, then I have 70 tablets which I have to crush, and a sachet of bute. Problem is all that powder and some water, makes more than 80ml (which is the size of my syringe) so she has to have two doses, twice a day. She has been amazingly good with this so far

Oh no, only just seen this. How is it this morning? I do hope you don't have to take her back to the vets. This must be so stressful for you! All fingers crossed for you. Pics would be interesting if you have time.

Yikes!!! not only is that a lot of stuff for her to need, that doesn't sound so good about the two openings for the wound. I hope it's looking better, but if not, I'd definitely get her back to the vet. I feel so bad for her and you, and hope she turns a corner and begins improving massively!

Unfortunately I had to take Fashion back to the vets yesterday 😐 the wound had opened up between the two holes. They rang me later in the day to say they had aggressively cleaned it, and packed the hole full of dermagel and more /different antibiotics. Just awaiting game now for the next 12/24 hours to see if it starts to respond. Slight worry the infection would track into the muscle layer, it's only in the outer layer at the moment. She does not look ill at all just now 🙂 Won't lie, I'm scared, but staying positive for now x

I know how stressful and worrying this is for you having gone through similar with Dolly last year. The fact that she is looking well at the moment is a good sign and she is getting the best care posssible. Hopefully there will be good news soon. take care of yourself too xxx

Heck yeah! I definitely would have whisked her back to the vets if I was in your shoes! I'm relieved they could get in there, get it all cleaned and treated aggressively AND more important that they could grab a culture to match the antibiotics.
When Mister was fighting that horrid staph infection, they kept trying to send him home, but the wound was way beyond what I could manage at home. At least at the vets, they can apply sedation to give her pain control whilst debriding and keeping the wound clean and clear. At home, that's almost impossible to do in the early stages.
Sending cuddles and get well wishes for Fashion...

Yuck! That looks nasty, poor Fashion. Glad to hear she’s perky and eating, hopefully the right antibiotics will get on top of it

Yuk, that looks nasty. No wonder you had to take her back to the vets. Glad to hear she is doing and feeling well and hope they get the correct antibiotics so she can be home again soon. Keep us posted please.
