Yes Debbie, we only did it the once ! Then we mixed it with everything else that was syringed . Just been this afternoon, and the offside boob has gone down, and the other is half the size. Wound looking a little better x
Alice can agree about bejng an accident prone filly, front leg well and truly stuck in a gate 🤔

Debbie - I know just what you mean when you say Blossom aged you in seconds with her antics. That first year I dreaded looking out of the window every morning to see what devestation I might find.

Alice heard you discussing and didn't want to be upstaged by Fashion, no doubt tell her she's outgrown her silly filly stage and is in her 'sensible mare' years now, and stop that already I don't know if it's available in the UK, but I've used EMT Gel for wounds to help them heal super fast and without scarring. www.valleyvet.com/ct_library_info.html?product=030a64c5-d04e-432a-b27b-c94c75431d08&showText=1Poor Fashion! I'm so glad you took her back to the vets pronto. Some things are just well beyond what we can manage at home. At least at the vets they have access to more sterilized conditions and better pain meds. Did they decide her liver inflammation was from a virus? Is that what lead to her colic episode?

Still no firm definition of what started all this off 😐
Today they have scanned the wound, there are a couple of pockets of pus , which are steadily dripping away, they don't seem concerned but she has to stay there for the time being 😞
I'm off tomorrow to find something to spray onto Alice's wound, it can't be stitched, and of course she's not going to stop eating. We just keep washing it in salt water x

Well, good news that the vets are pleased with Fashion's progress. I suppose it is sensible to keep her at the vets until they are 100% happy. Hopefully you will have her home very soon.
I don't suppose there is much you can do about the cut on Alice's lip other than salt water. Thankfully wounds in the mouth/nose area do seem to heal fast. Eve took a massive slice inside her nostril once. It was deep and looked awful but it healed very quickly with just salt water swilling. Hopefully Alice's wound will heal quickly too.

Alice is carrying on as if nothing has happened ☺ did try and load a pics but PB not playing yesterday.
Fashion okay, it is healing, from the inside, but they want it to stop leaking before she comes home , which is good , but we miss her 😑

What a great idea to swill it with saltwater! I'll have to remember that for the future These Dales do love to eat So pleased the vets are happy with Fashion's progress! Definitely great that it's mending thoroughly from the inside out. Pockets of infections won't do, so best to let the experts get her completely mended for you
