And so far so good.
2 yr old blue roan filly Holmehouse Gemini joined the boys a couple of hours ago. Despite a detoured journey she stepped off the wagon very calmly.
The boys were more excited than she was I think. I’d saved a section of very long grass to turn them out onto with the idea that stomachs would rule. And after a couple of minutes of charging round they have all settled to do what Dales do best. Eating. Phew.
Still a lot of settling to do, but that’s the scariest bit over with! She’s in season as well (going to have to get used to girlie things, only ever had geldings before) and seems to have taken a shine to Larry, but no damaging antics so far 🤞
And she’s soooo pretty!!

Congratulations! I've seen your pics on FB - she is lovely and so glad they are all settled together.
I think it is parr for the course for a mare to come into season immediately she is introduced ot new males. Eve was the same and I found Harvey mounting her that first day! I am so glad your 2 boys are OK with a new mare joining them - I am envious of all of you who have no problems introducing a new member to the herd. Harvey and Frankie never gave up fighting over Eve! In the end Eve "became" Frankie's, Dolly "became" Harvey's and neither particularly wanted poor little Lily, much to her relief no doubt!

I was very worried that one of them would hate her!
I seem to have the opposite problem now tho, in that she’s latched on to Larry and even when being led between fields she’s very upset that he’s being taken away. Hopefully she’ll settle with Sammie in his own in a bit of time otherwise I’ll have solved one problem to create another!
