Thank you for taking the time to put that reply together Debbie. I'd forgotten about the need for a 'sunshade', having done some trail riding in Spain, you are SO right about that. It is easier to sit into a Western saddle in some circumstances, so falls are less likely certainly. I've also grabbed that big horn and held very tight, which has really helped me stay in the plate! You're right about it being up to individuals to choose what to wear or what precautions to take too. I've been laughed at for getting 'dressed up' in protective gear when I've felt it warranted - but I've been around long enough to have picked up some nasty injuries!

Glad I could help Maggie. Its easy to forget sometimes things are designed a certain way for a reason. And yes, that lovely horn has saved my bacon, keeping me in the saddle too I just wish the helmet manufacturers would pay attention and come up with the right design. We've actually had a letter published in one of our largest horse magazines pointing that out, and still nothing is coming forwards.

There was a skull cap cover made quite a few years back that had a good sunshade brim I can't remember the name of them but I suspect that they are no longer made
