Agree with all that has been posted, Suew's post about choosing riding partners is very relevant.
A friend of mine was terrified about her ID galloping off into the sunset on pleasure rides, I used to go with her and talk with Jane all the way around, as and when speedsters galloped past, Jane would get very uptight and freeze. I used to say to Jane, ok, time for a nice 10 meter circle, or shoulder in, or anything to get Jane's brain engaged. It always worked and Liam was always a pleasure to take out.
Last year Jane was in 1st place for 6wks and eventually took overal 3rd position in the UK for Le Trec.

Mmmm, the chance has cropped up to go to the North York Moors for a weekend away with a pony, to join a few friends with their ponies and it sounds ideal. I know everyone who''ll be there. The plan is to do a few leisurely rides and just have a good chat with each other, and we'll hope to be leccy penning the ponnies overnight so all good experience...... and that's at the end of September.... so that gives me something to aim for, and in the meantime I think we'll try to get out and do a few dressage tests locally just so we get more used to turning up at places where there are other ponies loading/unloading/warming up etc.
And Fina, yes, I'll definitely remember to switch to circles or lateral work when I feel stressed! I think I'm now well programmed to do that! LOL.

Rebecca,
no, it's not Partridge Nest.... though that sounds nice. It's a farm near Sutton Bank. I've not been before but the friend who's organising it has, and says it's lovely. I know there are good bridleways round there..... even if they do involve going up and down the steep bits!
and LOL....... ONE day someone will introduce me as Flintfoot Filly, maybe! Thanks for the offfer!
