Yesterday I went to pick Blossom's feet and I normally go front left foot, hind left, hind right, right front. I've done this since childhood, and its rather a habit, but I've also been known to just grab a solo foot to take a peek if something seems amiss. Yesterday I thought I might play 'pick up sticks' with her, and as I was all ready at her front right foot, I started forwards to pick it up. LOL...you should have seen Blossom's expression! Mummy, you're going about it all wrong!!!" Me personally, I like to occasionally reverse the process as it does help the pony or horse get used to something done out of routine (much like leading on the right, or mounting on the right). But almost always go round starting with the left. What do you do?

I definitely don't do it in a particular order as I think the horse/pony will come to expect that and it may present problems when you want to change the order or someone else looked after your pony.
I go up to mine in the field and just pick up any random foot while they are free so they get used to me coming at them from all angles!

Randomly, if anything I start at front then do back but I do it whichever I am closest too really.

I'm a creature of habit so tend to pick them in the same order most days but occasionally vary it to suit where I'm standing and I've never had any problems with any horse in this last 30+ years. My favourite horse for this was Emma, who'd been used to having all feet picked up from one side only which made life easy!

I'm guilty of picking feet in order, guess I'm as much a creature of habit as Knight. I've tried to varry it know, and he does give a bit of a disaproving look before handing over the foot just to let me know I've done it wrong. That must be handy to be able to pick up all the feet from one side. Tried this on Knight and no problem iwth the hind feet, but if I reached far enough under to get the front one I'm under his belly. He lreally did give me a funny look then.

same order, it just evolved. sometimes I start the opposite way round but always front back bck front!!!
I find it helps them get organised.

I tried to teach Harley to pick them all up with me on staying on the same side but he reckoned it would make him fall over and objected profusely!!

LOL at Harley! I tried it with Harvey but he found it too mentally taxing and got confused!

LOL...not sure I'd be mentally up to picking out all the feet from the same side!

we do it in same order until they are so comfy with it, then and only then we begin to alter the order. Never had a problem this way. We find that by using the same order for ages first, they will automatically pick up feet for us which is very handy.

I do everything randomly. I don't keep any sort of routine for any of my animals. My reasoning is, that if there is some sort of emergency then they won't be upset by a change of routine.

We pick up feet random. There is no routine for the creatures. It helps alot if someone else takes over for a day or so.
