;D Someone's not told her she's a TB then? I actually prefer the more ploddy types, but I do know how exhuasting it can be to get them going....and yep, have done the 'runaround' to lunge them as well. I think they decided if they've got to work, you should too. Dales ponies are certainly MENSA worthy ;D

This has cheered me up no end! James is all or nothing. The majority of the time I feel like getting off and pushing but just occasionally he goes off like a rocket which invariably takes me by surprise! Maybe its just a matter of finding a word that's the antithesis to "wh"?

Oh yes, Knight definitely agrees that if he must exercise I should too. Ridden he's a nice compromise of ploddy mind but light & responsive to the aids, a favorite combination of mine. But like James he can throw in a little surprize every now and then, to keep you on your toes. But with me on the ground like lunging, well Knight does hate to exercise alone so he makes sure we both get a workout.

Dales ponies are very smart but at least he is apologetic! I have a dales X just like that - George -except a bit older. His best pace is halt! Although I have to say he taught me to drive without injuring myself and he has helped two other ponies go pairs for the first time. He is great because I know if the other pony is silly we aren't going anywhere because good old george isn't. Youve got to love em

Hi Bellajack ;D I too have a very brainy Dales x cob mare!! This morning- I went to yard as normal- late night - no drink !! I decided to lunge my girl- as was feeling a bit under par. WELL- Jet had other ideas !!!! She normally lunges gr8- but today, she decided to just do one lap on lunge and then like yours - decide to tangle herself in lunge line !!! She then stood perfectly- her outline was brill- long eyelashes- doeful eye, looking SO innocent !!! So after a while of me being followed in circles- ( which was funny really- bonding session !!) I decided to drag her out of school and tack her up and RIDE !!!! She wasn't amused at all !!! My girl was a "proper little madam" today, she was hard work, but I do love her- she's so full of character !! ;D We finished on a good note - gave her a bite of my apple, rugged her up and squelched our way down track to field, I nearly got stuck in mud- cos Jet decided that she was starving and stopped for a mouth of grass!!!! I'm sure she had a quiet laugh to herself !!! Happy New Year to you all. Wouldn't swap my darling Jet for anything- even if she was taking the mickey out of me today !! Jxx

Aren't they something, know just how to give that perfectly innocent expression amidst a tangle of lunge line? Knight spends more time tangled than lunging, much less work that way. Jet sure sounds like a character, but such a sweet girl. Don't we just love them?
