Went to Kilnsey show today, just to watch. It rained and I ended up sheltering in a feed company tent ;D
Came away with some samples of a new sugar beet based feed which is being launched on 1st September.
Its a conditioning feed called Fibre Beet and made by the same people as Speedi-beet. Made of sugar beet and Alpha and biotin
Takes 45 minutes to soak so I tried some on mine tonight. They loved it, chased me round the stable trying to get more.
It makes up into a smooth paste which my horses sucked up (dreadful noise). Apparently its good for veterans, sick horses, horses with poor teeth or fussy feeders.
I really liked the sample so looking forward to being able to buy some more to test properly.

I got a sample of this in the post last week. I don't know why or how it was sent to me but it looks good and i might consider it for Winnie this winter. I haven't tried it yet though. Is it like the Dengie Alpha-beet then?

I shall look out for it at Burghley as no doubt they will be giving out samples there as it sounds interesting.

it does sound very like AlphaBeet, except for the biotin. If it is it''s a GREAT food. I'm sure it gave Kahn an extra year/18months. It gives condition without loads of extra starch. I used to make up a huge bucketful and give it to him as a hay substitute when he stopped eating hay(ledge).

Just in case anyone wants to know....I e;mailed dengie and they have sent me a quite reasonable size sample, so I can see if her majesty likes it before buying a bag! Jo x

Quest and Harvey don't like the Dengie Alphabeet but I haven't tried them with this new feed yet. Might try it this weekend as it's pnly a tiny sample packet.

Have ordered some for Cobweb and Zoey. We use Alfa Beet in the winter but this is quicker to soak if I forget to prepare it overnight.
