The SBS is no longer in production so aren't available unless they are second hand. They weren't allowed to be sold in the US due to the lawsuit but I don't think there is anything stopping people in the US buying them from Ebay etc.
The Fhoenix is currently being sold in the US.

I have the Freeform saddle and I think it's fantastic! I do a lot of off-road hacking up & down some steep hills and it's never slipped once. I trialled the SBS but it looked completely ridiculous on Sam! LOL I think the Freeform retails about £800 but it's been perfect for us and I can also mount from the ground if necessary. Their website is www.goldfinch-endurance.co.uk

have enquired about the SBS on the old site, however it is much more than I can really afford! Caroline, with the freeform, does it look ok to show in? we only do local level but would like to carry on if possible. why do you say the SBS looked wrong on Sam? curly only 14hh but wide! Has anybody heard of a saddle called the 'Strada'?

Hi Tina The SBS sat very strangely on Sam and it slipped completely over when I tried to mount from the ground. I need a saddle that stays put as I hack over quite extreme territory (see last photo).Sam looks very scruffy in these photos - he does look better now (honest! ) Hopefully, I've managed to upload a few photos for you. The SBS (sat on Sam like a sack of spuds! LOL) This is my Freeform saddle. It feels very secure and personally I think it looks rather nice on Sam.It gives a very close-contact feel but feels very secure too.

i have 2 strada saddles. they have some flexibility but not like a treeless, so fitting is very important. my new saddle was fairly expensive at £1351 but i picked up the used saddle for £250 as the name is not well known outside classical dressage circles though they are becomming more widely used for endurance also now.the tree is replaceable if neccessary. i have trialled lots of treeless saddles. the one i eventually bought was a 2nd hand Hillason for £180. it's very rare that the cheapest option works out best but i'm really pleased with the hilason which is in regular use and never moves.

carolinec - I use a dartmoor treefree size 2 at the moment and love it but if my butt ever gets small enough (and stays small enough) for a smaller saddle I'm considering a freeform as I love the look of it. Can I just ask - does your saddle have any rigid parts at all? Mine has a rigid pommel and I have 2 widths. 1 for summer and 1 for winter. I can just about haul my aging body up from the ground when necssary without it slipping which I couldn't do with completely treefree Fhoenix. And are the stirrup bars safety or closed ring. Thanks Hilary

My Freeform has a metal gullet-plate (Mine is XW) but that's the only rigid part of the saddle. The new version has a flexible plate built in to the seat which flexes with the horse. I'm looking to buy a new seat for my saddle with it in as soon as I can afford it (about £120 I think. As the seat is detachable it's very easy to upgrade to the new version. The saddle also takes up to an 18" seat so it should fit most people (I have a 17.5" seat on mine).
The stirrup bars are closed-ring, I therefore ride in safety irons and never found this to be a problem. The SBS I trialled just slipped alot and I didn't feel safe in it. I can only afford one saddle so it just wasn't worth the money to me although it might have been good for schooling.

Thanks. I asked about stirrup bars as your leathers only look single thickness in photos so I wondered how you attached them if the bars are closed ring. I use caged stirrups anyway so it wouldn't matter.

I have a Freeform and a Randol (same as Barefoot) for sale (and a Free'n'Easy!) if you'd like to get in touch with me? One of them may suit! I ended up with SBSs but did like the Freeform. Lucy
