I've got a few pics of the latest version of the WH saddle I'm trialling for comparison to your one, Gill. I think you'll agree this one is not much different from the GP/WH version I was sent earlier this month. I'm afraid the pics are not good as I had to take them on my own mostly and I haven't got harvey standing well. This was taken this morning after several days riding on it: This one shows the knee and thigh roll arrangement which I think is different to yours, Gill? This is how it sits on Harvey from another angle: A very poor one of me sitting on it: How does it compare to yours, Gill?

It's definitely a different shape to mine Pam, I think I will ring them up just to see exactly what model mine is - I was told it was a WH! Mine doesn't have the thigh rolls and is straighter cut.
However it seems to sit really nicely on Harvey - is it a better fit at the withers now, it doesn't seem to sit so high up?
The most important thing is, do you and of course Harvey like it?!! The flap follows the shape of your leg nicely.

Yes Gill, it sits better on his withers now, just right I would say. I do like it very much and Harvey seems happy in it. I don't understand how yours and mine can be so different - very odd. They keep telling me mine is just the same as yours but takes into acount the different template and our leg lengths. I'm still not convinced I've been sent the right saddle but I like it so I guess that's what matters!
It is probably sensible for me to have a more forward cut version for hacking and I can use my old dressage saddle if I want for schooling.

It looks very nice Pam, and you look very nice sitting in it! It does fit Harvey nicely too. Too many nices! But you know what I mean.
What make is the saddle?

What make is it? The pictures are not bad. Mine are terrible.

It is a Humphries and Swain WH saddle witha semi flexible tree.

Pam could you do me a favour and take a pic of the front of saddle at the withers without a numnah, I just want to see how the panels sit compared to Saturn's, thanks!

I know it's hard to tell from pics, but it looks plenty big enough for you both. Would a shorter seat perhaps be better for his length of back, as you obviously don't need it as big as that.
What I am trying to tactfully say is that it looks to sit a tiny bit beyond the end of his ribcage to me, but it could be an optical illusion.

Helen, it sits just, and only just, before the end of his ribcage. It's a 17" saddle and this is the problem I have with most saddles on Harvey. He is extremely short coupled for a 15hh horse. Saddles also have a tendancy to slip back on him, to the point where they are sitting behind his last true rib. Strange, because most Dales Ponies seem to have the other problem - saddles ride forwards on them. I'll have another check on it tomorrow when I ride him.

That is probably because he has a lovely long, sloping shoulder, like my two. I just love that feeling of having so much horse infront of me, but saddles slip back on them too, esp. Jack. Also means I need extra long reins.
It looks more than 17" with you sitting on it, so you must have a very small bottom!

Yes, it is deceptive - I do have a small bum but it is expanding rapidly! Having said that, I haven't actually measured the saddle myself so will do so today. Maybe they've sent me the wrong saddle - again!

Thanks Pam, I think the saddle sits pretty similar to Saturn's, if not slightly lower! It must just be the design of the saddle which makes it appear a bit perched.
I'll get some pics of it on Saturn from similar angles to compare.

Yes, I'd like to see some of your saddle on Saturn for comparison. I've come to the conclusion it is the design of the saddle and they're meant to look like this.
