Well, with the aid of a few reinforcements (my friend Sue had horsey ladies staying!) we did it!! And here is the evidence! In that? Yeah, right! Course I can walk with the cart! Look, I can pull it on my own! Out of the drive and off! And the big deal is? (Spot the stupidly grinning driver who'd just got on!!) No messing! We can even do turning round! And downhill! Even Claire cadged a lift! And home safe and sound! We did a couple of little goes at trotting too! Amy was great....I have a sneaking suspision she may have done this before... otherwise she was really an angel! Claire is such a great teacher, she made it easy for all of us! She even brought me some L plates!! What a day. I'm really on cloud nine! Thanks for everyone's interest!! Sorry there's sooo many photos!

Oh wow Lucy! That looks like it went really well. The revamped breaking cart looks fab and Amy looks like she has been doing it for years. Your smile says it all! Well done and don't apologise for lots of photos - we LOVE them!

Thank you ladies! I'm still grinning like an idiot! If the weather cheers up tomorrow we'll have another little go. Amy's chest and bum will need toughening up before we do too much!
Does anyone know where I can get the orange and yellow fluorescent strips like lorrys have to put on the back of the cart so I can retrieve my exercise sheet?
I really enjoyed it, a whole new dimension to Dales ownership!

Aww bless her what a good girl! She looks VERY laid back about it all and lucky you having all those helpers! If Amy can cope with all that coloured stuff behind her she can cope with anything LOL! You should be able to get those reflective strips/triangles etc from caravan accessory suppliers.

Wowweeee!!!! Amy's taken to this so easily....and who wouldn't with a sensible, calming group like that to walk out with ;D LOVE the pics, and all the smiling happy faces!!! If Amy hasn't done this before, she's had a fantastic introduction to driving. ....not to sound silly, but can someone explain L plates to me??

L plates are for learner (car) drivers to warn other road users they may do something silly!! It's the red L on a white background - see the back of the carriage. i also had one on my front but fortunately you can't see that! I've never done driving before either and enjoyed it immensely.
Claire and I are like minded on high viz wear for road riding, there are so many folks round here that wear green coats on dark horses, very country and very dead when the other road users see you too late to stop! They all think I'm nutty but I don't give a tinkers chuff!!!
For all our "loud" group, little Amy's ears were pinned back on me, bless her (either that or she was keeping a very close ear on the strange cart and the mad woman following her?!!)

FANTASTIC!!!!! What a star Amy is! I can't believe how well she is doing. Absolutely brilliant!!!! I agree with you and all the hi-viz geer. A neighbour of mine had a nasty accident last spring when a car drove into the back of her cart on the brow of a hill. I keep meaning to get some of those lorry stripes for my trailer.

Well Done you & Amy! She did fauulous and looks so relaxed, not worried at all. I wish I could borrow all of you to help me with Knight. Thanks so much for posting all these great pictures, gives me many ideas about things I can do to help Knight who is very uneasy about the cart. One thing I notice is no blinders and yet she doesn't seem disturbed by the cart following her. Knight seems upset by the blinders, always trying to turn his neck far to the side & see around them. Maybe we could try without, atleast to start. Seems like several helpers would be a sensible way for us to start. Amy is definitely a star!
