Finally got some pics from Sue's step-dad of our first outing in the new Benni. They are not stunning but give the overall impression! I think we look quite smart!! Many thanks to Clara for spotting the ad for me Need to keep my eyes peeled for a harness now! The starting of Wiz is going well, not too fussed about the cart moving about around/with him but we need to do more long reining as he has a few historical issues to resolve before we put the cart to!!

Yes, I was very lucky to get it! Trust DalesFans to come up trumps for me!!
I didn't think my old marathon vehicle was too bad (though not showing standard) but this really looks the business. Sue and I will have to step up a gear now! I do hope Amy's in foal, but I'll miss driving her next year, no Bakewell show for us if she is.

You all look fantastic!!!!!!!!!! It is really great I love the wood dash board mine only has a metal one - what a great deal you got. Amy looks as though she is an experienced model and enjoying her new toy. Glad to see you are wearing Hi Vis clothing on the road!! I'm glad you are enjoying driving it they are good vehicles to use and horses get on well with them too. Are you going to take Amy to the performance show and do the exercise class? DO you have any plans for the rest of the season? What with Foot and Mouth and the floods and Sporty's cold I haven't been in the show ring since April and I'm off on holls next week. We did get to do another driving trial which was just as much fun as the first and we did much better in the dressage and a bit faster X country unfortunately our cones let us down. How exciting if Amy is in foal!! You are so lucky to have that option with a mare wish I could breed from SPorty but sadly he is missing the relevant bits! I'm sure it will be worth missing a show - any how maybe your other pony will be broken and ready then? Pairs/tandem in 2009? We are not at all ambitious on this site, honest!

That's utterly posh!! Even Amy seems pleased with her new cart, and I adore how well you show up in the high viz Safety is everything!!! Clara, there's always next year for driving comps I think this year's been a hard one for shows with all the flooding and now FMD heaped atop. How is Sporty doing with his cold?? I do hope he's improved, poor lad.

Very many thanks for everyone's kind comments! I do want to do another driving something with Amy this year, but want to give her a gentle month first incase she is in foal, she's actually eating for at least 4 at the moment and is getting miffed that I keep lifting her tail to check her bits - so undignified - I get repelled with a swish and a loud f*rt!!! - to see if she's in season again! The new Benni will go in one side of the trailer so we can go to places more easily! I won't be doing the Performance Show sadly, I just haven't done enough this year for the ridden classes (after my red face at Bakewell LOL!!) and Sue's got guests over the bank holiday so I've got no groom. I hope to go and watch all the other brave souls though! Pairs next year, no problem!!!! Maybe a unicorn if Amy does have a foalie as it will have driving in its blood! ;D I'm sorry Sporty and you didn't get to all the things you'd have liked this year, hopefully next year will be better! I often think with geldings that it's a shame they've not still got their bits, but maybe that's the reason they turn out so good?!! LOL! Having just spent two weeks on jury service I'm thinking perhaps we should do that to a lot of the testosterone fuelled yobs that were coming to court!! Not very pc however!

What a nice carriage! You two and Amy look very smart indeed. I do hope she's in foal, though it will mean less driving this yeas.

Thank you for all your support. Sporty is actually in rude health and despite our lack of competitions he has come on leaps and bounds. I just don't have anywhere to show it off!! There is a Driving trial in September which I will do. Hoping that next year I might have a bash at the national at Sandringham but perhaps that is planning too far ahead! I think someone was asking about driving hollidays so I looked in the back of Carriage driving. If you are into driving this is a good mag to subscribe too. There are three places although I don't know them personally www.abbeyfarmliveries.co.uk in Norfolk - bring your own ponies. New Forest option is 01435 402307 bring your own ponies though. Then there is Dartmoor driving Mr and Mrs Arden in Devon 01364 631438 they offer tuition also for pairsz and tandem. I have heard people who have been to the Dartmoor one - who say it is very good. If you feel like traveling further abroad www.coaching-in-bavaria.com . This is fantastic and I am going to take myself off on one of his drive round Tuscany jaunts one day!! It is supposed to fabulous. Wouldn't mind having a go at driving his team!!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit, the driving holiday in Bavaria is just an awesome idea!!! What fun it would be to ride in the post carriage. I have to admit to toying with a similar idea of utilizing dales ponies in the US for carrying post ...or rather parcels (US Postal Service has a monopoly on post proper) about. I treasured one of my letters delivered via dog sled along the Oregon coast for many years. Pity this same service isn't standard, but it does make for a nice comemorative. Glad to hear Sportie's feeling so much better Ooh, and fingers seriously crossed that Amy takes it nice n gentle and stays in foal for you.

Thanks for the holiday options, I have just found I have 2 1/2 weeks left to take so will be looking into it! I'll let you know how I get on.
Postal ponies, Debbie, ace idea!! After the day I've had at work it could be possible! LOL!
If you go to Sandringham, Clara, let us know and I'll try to come and cheer you on!

The new Benni Intros are about £1400, fortunately I didn't have to pay that much thanks to an eagle-eyed Clara!

I'm pretty sure the exercise carts would be even less expensive given a handyman type hubby Lacking that, if you're intersted, I'm sure someone one here could keep an ear to the grapevine for you for a 'steal'. I bet Blossom would enjoy being a 'postal pony' She does love new things, and I'm sure it wouldn't take long at all for her to get used to packing bags on her back for walkies. Probably do us both some good
