Ah, you are probably right Zelda, but I did like the colours.............. I tried my Macwets out today and they are lovely for riding in. No good for field work though.

Zelda, wrap tape, duct tape is good enough but use quite a bit, around the fork handle. I did that with my old wheel barrow and the difference is amzing. Keeps the cold metal from getting through.
PS there is no such thing as a fussy shopper, one that just knows what they want! ;D

I am like the moo, pimple gloves with marigolds over the top. For non-muddy jobs I have a pair of the Toggi winter gloves. For riding a have a pair of Patra silk liners to go under which ever riding gloves come to hand!

Pam, For people with large hands, you can buy some blue latex type gloves. They use them in enginnering works and similar places.

How are the MacWet gloves for winter riding? I'm extremely sensitive to cold and have a terrible time keeping my hands warm this time of year, even when riding in an indoor school. I visited the MacWet website and they seem brilliant for keeping one's hands dry, but how do they stand up to freezing temperatures?

Zelda I have the same problem with the fingers being too large on most gloves. Sometimes its downright hazardous!
Can you use youth sized gloves at all? They're a bit bigger than the children's sizes, but still have smaller fingers.

Siubbhan - so far so good with the Macwets. Of course it doesn't get as cold here as it does with you and luckily I don't suffer with the same degree of cold sensitivity. I've ridden with them in temps of down to 4C now and in strong, icy winds. They do seem to have good windproofing and my hands stayed warm but I don't know waht they would be like in the sort of conditions you get.

Just thinking about Jo's idea re tape round the handle. You can get sort of rubbery grippy tubing for bike handles - would that go round the fork handle?
Is this starting to sound like a Two Ronnie's sketch - the fork 'andles one! LOL

I was just about to suggest the same, or the stuff you wind around racquet handles (not sure how expensive that is though).
I always use fleece gloves with large size rubber gloves over them in winter!

So could we have an update on the Mac Wet gloves please? How do they compare to sealskinz? Can't fault my Mac Wet gloves for riding in any weather, hacking or dressage. My Sealskinz are fine and warm for poo picking but a bit irritating as they are a pain to get on and off and are a bit cumbersome. Wouldn't want to ride in Sealskinz but wouldn't want to poo pick in Mac Wets.
