I needed a new foundation - and have been using Chanel for ages. But being a bit broke and all that I couldn't justify the cost so started to shop around.....and found Max Factor Miracle Touch!
It's great - comes in a compact, not a powder tho - it smooths on, covers as much as you want, doesn't look heavy and once it's dried it doesn't rub off easily (and I tried with a white towel! LOL)
Comes in lots of shades - I can really recommend it....and it's less that £12 (not the cheapest on the market, but a heck of a lot less than Chanel!)

I have to rave about Boots No7 Intelligent Colour foundation - it works for me, and I don't look like I've been tango'd either!

LOL I'm another one who doesn't use make up and I wouldn't know how to apply foundation anyway. Whenever I've tried it looks unnatural and I guess the skill is to apply in such a way that it's not obvious but you look better. I'm too old to learn now and I can't be bothered but I am a sucker for expensive moisturising creams! I recently threw out a much used Mary Quant lipstick dating from 1964! Is that a record?

I am not a big makeup person and find i can come out in rashes with a few different types of products, but my best fondation after many years is a Virgin one, it is great and very good without a huge price on it as well, but again not the cheapest market.

I recently threw out a much used Mary Quant lipstick dating from 1964! Is that a record? LOL Pam you should have sold it on Ebay!! I find if I use powder it accentuates lines, and foundation I just can't stand as I feel all clogged up. I also like good moisturisers, I just bought the Protect and Perfect for £49 (supposedly half price ), to see if it makes any difference! I wouldn't normally spend so much but am comparing it with the stuff I usually use (Garnier Ultralift) to see if it makes any difference. I suspect none are that good - my mum has always used Nivea and her face is absolutely amazing for an 82 year old!

All I use most of the time is Body Shop hemp cream for very dry skin on my hands and face - it is a really good moisturiser.
I had tonnes of old make up until someone told me it was ideal for bugs to grow in - so we put some on an agar (sp) plate and BOY DID IT GROW BUGS!! So I threw it all out.
I only really use a bit of mascara and eye shadow, plus lip salve.

Well, I like to wear a bit of makeup. If it's good quality I never feel clogged or dirty.
I do think that skin aging depends more on genes than face creams, although I find the Protect and Perfect is good.
Gill - your Mum's complexion is beautiful and she doesn't look anywhere near her age....but that's down to genes...and she's passed them on to you......

The info about bugs growing on makeup was put as a counselling point for people with conjunctivitis- never thought of it but was told to advice anyone wearing eye makeup eg mascara and eye liner to throw it away if they used it whilst the had conjunctivitis otherwise they've cause it to come back! Im hopeless with make up so dont tend to wear foundation apart from when Im going out. I prefer liquid but find it feels like Ive shovelled it on. May try the No7 intelligent one. Maybe I should apply to Boots for a job

LOL, I'm trying Protect and Perfect too. Don't know if it's making any difference (only been using it for a week) but it feels nice to put on.
Sue - the trouble with make up is that it is an art to be able to apply well. You always look great but when ever I have a go it just doesn't look like "me". Also I find a lot of products irritate my eyes/contact lenses so I've given up.
So my old Mary Quant lippy was heaving with bacteria? I've still got some 20 year old make up.................

I like the YSL Touche Eclat foundation. It's every bit as good as their concealer. Light, but nice coverage. Lancome do a nice one in a pit which is light and has a mousse feel to it and you don't need poweder on top and shiesedo have a push up one in a stick that is mega quick to apply. I love make up so long as it looks natural so I have large stocks from which I dip into depending on the effect I have. The Dior range (sculpt, I think?) is also nice, ut gives more coverage than the ones I have mentioned.
