I'd really love to put Tilly in foal, unfortunately that ain't ever gonna happen, but it doesn't stop me day dreaming.
Either to a nice big chunky coloured cob - hopefully to throw a lovely coloured foal (not fussed about gender) to do traditional cob CHAPS etc classes with.
OR
to a nice TB type, the foal to be about 16hh little bit finer than TIlly to do Hunter classes with - would need to have Tilly's temprament tho!!!
OR
to a nice coloured WB - get mums temprament and dad's paces, then we could go do lots of lovely dressage.
Just got to "find" the right stallions now..
Sigh - if only....

I'd love to put Willow to a CB but I really can't have any more.
Go on Olivia, you could do all 3 over the next few years LOL.

Funny enough I was talking about this with a friend of ours who has a Shire. We were discussing what Stallion would suit Tilly!!
I think a nice coloured cob, but there again, you would get a really chunky cob with a Clydesdale!!! My friend said an ID.
Hmm, I know you really want something to do dressage on. Maybe the Clydesdale would not be a good idea LOL!!!

It's a lovely day dream, but totally impractical in real life.
Tilly is now 8, so would need to have a foal in the next couple of years. Not only is she on loan to Mair, but even if I had her I simply couldn't afford the livery and on going costs of a second horse. Just 'cause the foal would be little doesn't mean it'd cost me a fortune in livery bills!!!
So it'll have to stay as a lovely daydream

Olivia, never say never! I know mares a lot older than Tilly that have had their first foal. I appreciate the financial side is a major consideration, but you never know what may happen in the future, and you may find you can afford to get Tilly in foal after all.
At least you are being sensible, and have thought about the cost. Some people get carried away by the thought of a foal, and then find they cannot afford it when it arrives.

Mmm, a nice moving coloured. As Mair says, never say never but daydreaming is almost as good as the real thing. I'm the same and often ponder about breeding (not with Harvs obviously!) but I know it's not to be.

What a lovely daydream! I think a nice coloured would be good too.

I know what you mean about daydreaming Olivia. I have that daydream just about every day with D but know that it is just not affordable for me. But we can dream can't we?

Just been catching up and caught sight of this. I've been offered the chance to have Doll covered by a rather nice Dales (will tell you who when I have asked his owners if OK). As far as I know this would be Dolls first foal. Having seen what Olivia said about Tillys age do you think that Doll at 13 would be ok. I have been thinking and asking questions of people for about the last month, when the offer of the stallion was first made. I am waiting for my Vet to get back to me with his input. I also know that we need to get a move on or will be to late for this year. Would appreciate any advice anyone could offer.

The last time i looked into it (a few years ago admittedly) it was suggested 15 was the latest for a first foal. That may have changed now though.

Ha ha Kim, should have had money on you guessing! Not going to be a long Dalesfans guessing game is it. Yes the rather nice stallion is Millgate Barron.
