My Mother-in-law Anne died last Tuesday aged 71 years.
She was found dead on the sofa wrapped in her duvet with her cats by her side. It appears that she has had a stroke and died peacefully in her sleep.
Rick is totally devastated as he only had Anne, her sister Pat and his son Tarrick anyway. It was very unexpected and we thought she would go on until a grand old age.
We have been back in Leeds most of the week trying to arrange the funneral. It will be held on Friday 9th June at 1.40pm and I'd really appreciate some Dalesfans "vibes" to get us all through the day.
I'd personally known her from when I first met Rick when I was 18 and although she had a tough exterior she had a very kind heart. She will be very much missed by many people.

How utterly devastating for Rick!!! Although it sounds as though she passed peacefully surrounded by her lovely cats....how awful for those she leaves behind....
Sending massive <<HUGS>>...

Sending you and Rick some big hugs to help you both over the next few months.
Its much worse for those left behind when someone you love dies so very suddenly. Im sure not being able to say goodbye properly causes a big hole to develop in your own heart.
Be thankful that she died in her sleep. I honestly believe its the best way... The way most of us would prefer to go. With least suffering.
Im sure after today, things start to take a new perspective, one of healing. I think funerals are very important rituals that help say your goodbyes and for the page of a chapter to turn over. Be sure to talk about Anne as much as possible over the next few weeks, I really think this will help. She sounds such a wonderful person, and someone that will indeed be very much missed by everyone she knew.
I shall be thinking about you both later today.

This is so sad for you all, however you have the knowledge that your mother in law died peacefully in her home,no doubt feeling safe, this is denied to so many people,be thankful for that small mercy. All our thoughts are with you ofcourse,be brave and strong,I am sure that would be expected from the lady you describe as tough and kind. xx

I really hope the funeral went well Caroline. So sorry to read about this and hope that Rick is gradually recovering from the shock. What a lovely way to go but so hard for those left behind. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. xxxx

Many thanks for all the support.
The Funeral & funeral tea afterwards went very well. Not too many tears and quite a few funny stories were told. It was a real celebration of Anne's life.
