Just spotted these dates on the Richard Maxwell site: www.richard-maxwell.com/demos.htmlQuite a few demo's around the country, including one at Myerscough and one at Doncaster. Anyone in Yorks/Lancs interested in going? I'm going to check my diary and think of going to one or both of those as they're not too far away from here, and he DOES do a good demo! Sarah

I've seen him a few times over recent years at demo's, Vicky, so can give you an idea of the sort of thing he covered then. However, as he's been concentrating a bit more on competing more recently, I suspect his demo may be more geared to training the performance horse, and his experiences of that, rather than the general "problem horse" type things that are quite often covered.
But that's only a guess. I could be wrong! But whatever he covers it'll be good!
When I've seen him before, he's covered things like:
- ways of encouraging a horse to go forward more freely without bucking (and often using a "wipwop" to help with that)
- encouraging a horse to go forward freely without getting fussy in the head/mouth (quite often that seems to have been just a matter of trusting the horse enough to give them a bit more rein, and ride them forward until they are happy to maintain their own self carriage with little or no contact on the rein)
- problem loaders (which usually end up demanding to load themselves in next to no time! LOL. I have a feeling he may have stopped covering this though, as usually it is a matter of training the handler how to go about loading their horse to resolve the issue, and that is probably best covered on a 1:1 session rather than at a demo)
If he brings along his current event horse, which I understand is going to most of the demo's, then hopefully we'll see a whole range of the things he's been doing with that horse.
Don't know if he'll cover long lining, but that's one of his real fortes, so maybe he will?
Other than that, I guess it depends what horses are there on the night...... .but as I say, all this is a guess on my part!

Thanks Sarah, I'm sure I'd find anything he does interestin but just wondered what sort of thing it would be. The ridden issues you mentioned would be good to see but as would the ground work. I have a lot to improve upon lol! I may have to wait until I get my timetable for next year before I can commit to going though

Thanks for the tips Sarah. I would love to go to one but will have to check half-term dates as they are all on week days. I'll let you know. Jill

;DOh yes I fancy doing one of those. I really enjoyed the last one I went to. He really seemed to have fun with his horse. Which one do you think you will do Sarah, Vicky, Gill?

Ang, I think I'll do both Doncaster and Myerscough. I;ll get my ticket in any case, and then nearer the time maybe we can arrange to meet up at whichever you decide on.

There's one in Gloucestershire (Harpbury college) which I'm hoping to go to.

I'd like to come to the Doncaster one Sarah - I'll probably get a ticket then organise it nearer the time, but a wee gang sounds fun. I'm sure Daddy can put Charlotte to bed for a night!

Hi Linda
I've sent off for my tickets so definitely planning to go. If you fancy travelling down together, let me know. We could either meet up at Boroughbridge and take one car from there, or you are welcome to come here, and also to stay over if that seems a good option though I'm sure Charlotte will be demanding her mum first thing in the morning!
