So if I'm reading this right, if I keep topping my grass during the summer season so that it is constantly growing therefore in leaf rather than growing stems (as your garden does when you mow it) - is this better for the ponies?
I never knew if topping was better or worse - as my grass looks alarmingly lush when topped!

Yes, keep topping. Looking lush is no indication of fructan content, although short and sparse would obviously be better for overall consumption rates.
