I don`t think its a case of being "tame" or "wild" jake is very well behaved at home on a halter or headcollar. But in the show ring he does tend to light up or some would call it presance. So for safety his and mine I now use a straightbar nylon bit as he is a chunky boy now Quite I'm afraid you wouldn't catch me taking any of ours in white halters above the yearling no matter which one and I've seen too many people dragged by white halters to know its not always the best thing to stick too. Lottie only goes in a white halter for a man but if i'm showing her the bridle is firmly on. ;D I don't have the strength to hold onto her if needed like the men do and I'll be the first to admit it.

I would also need something I can hold onto especially as I'm a bit arthritic, so it would be a bridle for me too!

It was probably me they were watching Heather! LOL However I am reluctant to bit anything which isn't broken really. I know Foxglove was a prat at the breed show but it is entirely my fault as I just haven't done enough halter work with her. Speedwell is just as much of a firecracker but has never been a problem to show in a halter because she has done so much ground work and is very light and responsive to lead; so even if she is very hett up I never feel like she is out of control. Foxglove will be doing far more once my exams are out of the way! Anyway thats just my thoughts on it.
