I've entered both mine in the dressage (couldn't avoid it really with Claire teaching me!) so will get two goes at making an arse of myself! At our last (and only!) outing we jumped the boards and buggered off up the arena! ;D LOL! Let's hope for a little improvement! Scared silly, but looking forwards to it! Amy's old mum is probably coming to help out too!

I'm tempted to do it- but have never done any dressage tests before. What kind of movements does the test involve i.e. will we have to canter perfect circles lol ?

oops just read earlier in the post- answered my question. May enter sammy in this though as at least there won't be any other ponies to get her excited or to disrupt if she goes bonkers!

It's a pretty easy test I think Dalesvic. I can't remeber exactly but I dont think there is a huge amount of canter. Go for it! I think there will be lots of young ponies having a go!

Vicky - if we are on standby, would you prefer us to catch you or Sammy! LOL
Have a go. It's good practice like you say!

It's a very straightforward test, no 20m circles in canter - and no you won't be expected to do perfect circles - I certainly won't be ;D It's basically circuits of the arena in trot and canter on both reins, with some walk, and free walk on a long rein, very simple. There is no way that Saturn will do a perfect test, if he does I'll eat my rosette LOL - he can't even do one at home without spooking around the arena so I can imagine what he'll be like on a strange showground! At the moment our canter is verging on gallop, motorbiking around the corners and spooking at the jump poles which have been lying in the same place since Saturn has been here Penny yes I'll call for Nic if I can get someone to look after Sat! Then she can blame me if anything goes wrong ;D

Do you know, I've entered the dressage without really worrying about it. We haven't practiced or anything and I've no idea if she will even stay in the arena with just a snaffle in! LOL! I wasn't really worried about making a prat of myself, just whether we would be safe. But the nervous comments being made about having a go at the dressage is starting to make ME nervous. Why on earth would anyone worry? It's just for fun isn't it? Maybe I SHOULD be worrying! Maybe I'm going to start worrying....

no don't worry! It wil be fine. I would have been doing it with Speedwell for the first time had she not had an abcess (sp( and a kick earlier in the year so she is still not properly broken yet. I always think dressage is less of a worry than a showing class becuse you are on your own so its less exciting for the pony!

Debbie, that is what is attracting me to the idea lol!
Thanks for info, I might mull it over and make a last minute decision- I will be doing it for fun anyway and it will be far from perfect!
Penny, I'll try not to throw myself at you as I go flying lol, might be best to go for Sammy. Although she normally stops and looks at me to say- what on earth are you doing down there! lol

LOL Vicky! I was only teasing you - you know that don't you? You will be fine.
OK Gill, I would rather hold Saturn than call for Nic! It's a deal then.

Don't worry Vicky, there are lots of young ponies in the area. It's meant to be a nice encouraging friendly show.
