Thanks for posting the super pics. Definitely the carrot fence for ours too - they take a very dim view of trains - or water for that matter!!! It's really exciting to go to these events but always a place to get sunburnt. Glad you had a great day.

We saw a couple of very scary falls - one with horse landing on top of rider - but all got up and walked away - limping - but intacked! The horses were tiring quite early due to the heat of the day.
Was really disapointed for Pippa Funnel. Obviously just not her day! The first GNER pic is of Pippa - dont know who the other brave dude was!!

We were there yesterday too and they are seriously big fences!!! It was very stop start when we were out watching the xc course as a fence had to be mended, someone had to have medical attention and a lot seemed to retire. The water looked really hard there were two massive fences one after the other with a stride in between and you could not circle back over the first one so a couple got stuck in the middle and had to retire.
Watching the pony club games was good as well they were dropping off, vaulting back on and cantering off again ponies rearing bouncing and they just sat there oh to be young and fearless!
(won't mention that there was good shopping too  )

The XC was stop/ start all day. At lunchtime they tannoyed that they were 20 minutes behind.! I have never known it be like that before. I was very reserved in my shopping. Only bought a couple of fold away chairs for shows - which I helpfully ladened up OH with and that was about it! However, I still came back quite a bit of money lighter! I really resent the amount they charge for food in there!!! Pork Roll sandwich £5.00 Bottle of water - 500ml £1.50!! It was that hot you couldnt have taken a picnic as we normally do! It would have been minging and sweaty! Maybe i am just tight though LOL I will tell you what I did see though - which made by blood boil! Sat on A1 in 3 lanes on stood traffic - as you do to get the these events - when a horse box came barreling down - and I mean 60mph plus - the HARD SHOULDER!!!! Followed by a couple of other impatient swines in cars. I just couldnt believe what I was seeing! Prime break down day for cars - stood in traffic - overheating and that Rodney cant be fluffed to wait their turn and decide to take matters into their own hands! Absolutely speechless!!! Hard shoulder ran out as it goes under a bridge, so they bullied their way back onto the motorway (no one wanted to let them on!), went around and back onto hard shoulder and off again!!! Where is a copper when you need one!!! There is no wonder horse transport is tutted by at the public on the roads when you witness something like that. i have got a good mind to write to one of the horse magazine 'your letters' pages and say if this was you - you want shooting!!!
