Well done on such a good result, you are certainly braver than me though it is one of my aims to get round a didi xc course.
Is the difference betweeen the puddles and the ford the fact that the water is flowing?

You should definately give it a go....I couldn't stop smiling afterwards. Because it was the beginners class most of the jumps were nice and easy and inviting. I was worried about the ditch because we'd not done one before, but it wasn't wide or deep...I'm just glad he didn't plough straight through! The jumps were 2ft max and it was about 1 1/2 miles so it wasn't too over-facing.
Good idea about the flowing water in the ford...i hadn't thought of that. Its not fast-flowing, but i guess that could be enough to put him off

Dancer would go in the water - no probs!! Usually cant get him back out and there seems to be a distinct lack of water left when we finally leave!! ;D I'm pleased it isn't just us! Do you think there's a bit of Hippo in the breeding somewhere?

Well done - thats something I am trying to build up courage to do with Doris - I know she would love it.
She is also very wary of water - we did have a bad experince at a local xc course where the footing in the water was muddy and deep, she didn;t like that. When we went to Craven Country ride the footing in the water complex was firm and once she had been thru that she went thru 3 more times and enjoyed it.
