I had a great day at the show, I was a bit concerned about Saturn travelling that distance but he was good as gold, and had hardly sweated up.
I was so pleased with how calm he was, standing quietly behind the lorry all day in between classes! Rick kindly took him into the inhand for me and he behaved well, in fact so laid back he decided he would do a wee as the judge was looking him over
I was warming him up for the dressage but typically just as it was my turn to go in loads and loads of runners appeared at the top of the field and Saturn freaked out at this! He kept trying to tank off but I did persevere with the test and we did manage to get round it although there were plenty of unasked for movements such as bucking, planting of feet and nearly falling over LOL!!
For the ridden classes he was not so forward going and unfortunately I found myself in the position of being in front which didn't appeal to Saturn and I could hardly get him to move, but all in all he was SUCH a good boy and behaved very well for his first ever show under saddle, I couldn't ask for more.
It was great to see everyone although when you are riding it's not so easy to socialise! However I would like to congratulate everyone who took part and a special well done to Nic and Aster who did really well at this show.
The setting is fab with flat fields and beautiful view and I'd like to thank all those who organised it. My only comments would be that in order to hear the tannoy you had to be practically at the ringside and it would have been nice to have a caterer on site, as the only place to eat was a fair trek over to the restaurant which only seemed to provide large cooked meals (not really what you want just before doing a ridden class ...)!
My results were
3rd inhand junior geldings 4 and over
4th Novice pony in its first season under saddle
4th Traditional walk & trot (age 4 - 6)
6th dressage (couldn't quite believe I got a rosette in this LOL!)
