Oh blimey. I am rubbish at jumping and for some reason decided to enter at the Performance show then realised I only had a week to practise. Got some poles and had a go lose schooling him and he was fine - if a bit random. Rode today and again was quite random. For some reason i took an absolute flier! I didn't even see it coming until I was upside down. I can't work out what I am doing or him but sometimes I just seem to catapult over his head. I have no confidence jumping as it is so that's a rubbish start. I am trying to be positive and methodical. I have a plan of action & am going to stick to it but am slightly worried it might break me before I get to the performance show either that or I will have become a lame drunk! Can someone tell me to pull myself together and get on with it - they are tiny jumps & he can do it with his eyes closed. Grrrrrrr....

I'm sure you will get it together with some practice, try not to throw yourself over the jump before he is! In fact for little jumps you dont even need to raise your bum out of the saddle just allow with your hands. Sit up nice and straight and ride into every jump, remember jumping a course is like a dressage test with obstacles

lol ang just pick a point beyond the jump and keep looking at that, dont look at the jump coz that will make him look at it, if you dont look at it you also get the feel for going into jumping position rather than doing it too early/late because your trying to judge went to do it. just go for it girl youll be fine!!!!!

Ang, I hope you are ok and its just your pride thats dented.
The best thing I can say is stick to trot and just try and go with the flow. The jumps are going to be small and I think CB will be able to trot over most of them without any effort.
Duke is not really good at jumping - he runs out a lot - so every day this week I am just going to trot him round and round the jumps and then sit Rachel on him and hope he does well!!!
p.s. the bucket offer still stands ;D

Look missus - if I am jumping, everyone is jumping!! We are poop! No scrub that! D is brill - pilot is poop!!! We set off all enthusiastic towards the jump, then my bottle goes, leg comes off, D says, 'erm, are we doing this or not mum?' Momentum goes and all hell breaks loose after that! LOL You will all have to excuse me as I cant jump in my tweed - as I cant fit my body protector and that on together - and my body protector will be going on! Have another bash! It will be fine. I tend to look at the jump which is a big no no! My instuctor keeps telling me to set him up, apply my leg, look at the wall past the jump and leave him alone!!! Apparently he is better at it than me! ;D

ang, you will be absolutely fine! If you are entering at novice level they will be very small and at the perormance show the emphasis is rather more on helping the pony to get round the course than how they do it. It is an encouraging show and unlike any other show you could attempt to jump at. You will not be eliminated or humiliated. Lots of people will be in the same boat and there will be many of us there to support you. Do it at the trot, the jumps are low enough for a pony to jump from standstill, so you should be absolutely fine.

hope you are alright this morning ang. as the others say, you will have loads of support from everyone. we are entered in the WH and the jumping but the medical pro have told me i haven't to jump under any circumstances with my back and hip due to the fact i will be totally written off if i do come off [which could be very likely! LOL]

Well I'm not even attempting the jumping so am not getting stressed about it ;D Saturn has only done one jump in his life and if I were to enter I know for sure he would stop and spook at every jump then probably walk through it

You had better look after yourself Karen. Better to be able to ride Daniel on the flat than not to at all. Jumping few jumps may just not be worth it. I dont think you would fall off though, but even the jump itself must jar your hip a bit! Take care.

yes penny i agree. theres always a chance when jumping that you can dismount without warning!! im better sticking to the flat and as you say, still able to keep riding.
